Dialogue, listening, are the tools that have allowed Italy to progress: one sometimes catches urges to consider a value, instead, the rupture, the clash. Almost as if progress does not pass, on the contrary, through cohesion and participation. Interlocution is not a stumbling block, a nuisance, a ritual: it is the unfolding of a country’s democracy, of the life of a community not of subjects but of conscious citizens.”
