ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I will not be president of the Republic.” Senate President Ignazio La Russa says this in a letter to Repubblica, expressing his “Total Disinterest” in running for the Quirinal in 2027. “My history would make it problematic,” he admits. “But above all, it does not coincide with my ambitions and my desire to be able to take sides on the things that I consider important” and preserve “the freedom to say, albeit occasionally, what I think without hypocrisy. “I know and understand that almost always (or always?) those who become president of the Senate a minute later conform their actions to the possible prospect of future president of the Republic,” La Russa writes. “I have deliberately had a different posture, precisely because I have never thought about it or even desired it. So if Republic wants to question the most unlikely hypotheses ask yourself what would you vote for in order to have Schlein instead of Meloni? Or rather, what would you be willing to vote for in order not to have her.”(ITALPRESS).
