ROME (ITALPRESS) – A work “115 years long that has never stopped, even during wars.” With these words Acea President Barbara Marinali opened the celebrations at the Salone delle Fontane at Eur in Rome for the company’s 115th anniversary, in the presence among many of Republic President Sergio Mattarella. “In the future we will not change our mentality,” the president promised, “spirit of service and sense of responsibility. The celebrations were graced by the choir of the Rome Opera House and the presentation of the new Acea logo. “Acea represents an extraordinary Italian reality and is the pride of Rome,” added Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, who recalled how the company has “accompanied the development of the economy and the modernization of our city. Even today, the dual intent remains: the push toward innovation and the guarantee of access for all on common goods.” From the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, came the congratulations: “Acea has grown to become one of the reference multi-utilities on the Italian scene, it is strongly involved and committed to the ecological transition. As minister of the Environment and Energy Security, I can only applaud the company’s commitment to sustainability in all areas of its responsibility.” Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida also praised Acea, “a reference point for the development of the water system, a bearer of ideas and proposals that can improve what we have.” Acea CEO and general manager Fabrizio Palermo, on the other hand, recalled some of the company’s numbers: first water operator in Italy, second in Europe, 12 million customers in Italy, nearly 25 thousand kilometers of sewer network and more than 1,300 purifiers. “Water,” he argued, “has today become the main resource. For the whole of Europe in the coming years it will be a priority compared to other world geographies. Unfortunately, today there is water hand but every euro invested in the water sector has a multiplier of three times.”
