ROME (ITALPRESS) – Debut with victory for ItalDavis in Group A of the Davis Cup Finals, staged until Sunday at the Unipol Arena in Bologna. In fact, coach Filippo Volandri’s Azzurri overcome the obstacle of Brazil already after the first two singles matches. The first point bears the signature of Matteo Berrettini, who overcame 18-year-old Joao Fonseca with a score of 6-1 7-6(5). The 2-0 came instead with difficulty from Matteo Arnaldi, who folded Thiago Monteiro 7-5 6-7(4) 7-6(5). The score, however, settled at 2-1 for the Azzurri by virtue of the doubles loss: in the late evening, in fact, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori surrendered to Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo 6-7(3) 7-6(6) 7-5.
