ROME (ITALPRESS) – Expand the pentathlon movement throughout Italy by taking advantage of the excellent international results, reorganize the federation internally, revise the competition programming model, and consolidate relations with local authorities. These are just a few points of the program presented by Fabrizio Bittner, who was confirmed as president of the Fipm for his second consecutive term, his third total, considering a brief interlude between late 2016 and early 2017. Bittner emerged victorious from the elective assembly held this morning at the Acqua Acetosa “Giulio Onesti” Olympic Preparation Center, which saw a very close head-to-head match with the other candidate, Gabriele Vescio: Bittner, in fact, won with 50.36 percent of the preferences, while Vescio obtained the remaining 49.64 percent. A real “split,” as the reappointed president called it, “It’s a shame. In the normality of a sports movement, winning an Olympic medal after 36 years (with Giorgio Malan’s bronze in Paris, ed.), in addition to the results obtained at the world level in previous years, should not lead to the hypothesis of change,” Bittner’s thought. Results that “show a healthy movement that makes us look forward to Los Angeles 2028,” he had explained at the opening of the assembly.
“We are only at the beginning of a long journey that must start from the grassroots by strengthening investment, taking pentathlon where it is not and consolidating it where it already is. Never as in these four years have we received certificates of esteem: much has been done but much more remains to be done. There are reforms to be made that also go through a new technical direction and probably internal reorganization,” Bittner concluded. As for the Federal Council, Irene Marotta, Adriana Fabbri, Federica Bondioli, Luigi Giardullo, Ennio Panetti, Pierluigi Giancamilli, and Raoul Rossi were elected as directors, Claudia Cesarini and Lorenzo Sciarra as athletes, and Gianluca Montecchia as technicians. Davide Sgarro was confirmed as president of the Board of Auditors.
