Bologna doesn’t break through, it’s 0-0 against Shakthar Donetsk

BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – Bologna’s return to the Champions League after sixty years is poor in goals. At the Dall’Ara, the Emilians draw 0-0 in their debut against Shakthar Donetsk, failing to break down the Ukrainian defense. The stars of the evening were undoubtedly the two goalkeepers: Skorupski saved a penalty early on, while Riznyk denied the joy of goal to Castro and Fabbian. Under the downpour, Bologna played with personality, dominated Shakthar for long stretches, but lacked cynicism. Of note was Shakthar’s homage to their country, which took the field wearing a jersey in the national colors of Ukraine. In the first few minutes Bologna fans experience a real rollercoaster of emotions. The initial euphoria threatened to fade in the bud when, after two minutes, Posch ingenuously knocked down Brazilian Eguinaldo, who had shot into the net, in the penalty area. Saving the red and blue from a premature freezing shower, however, was Skorupski: the Polish goalkeeper, in fact, hypnotized the Sudakov fantasist, parrying the penalty. Despite a playing field battered by heavy rain, the first half is played with a decent intensity by both formations. The guests dribble with more personality, while Bologna struggles to build dangerous actions. The best chance for Italiano’s boys comes in the recovery of the first half: Ndoye imbues for Castro, but the Argentine’s shot is blocked by Riznyk. In the resumption Bologna steadily takes possession of the opponent’s midfield and increases its offensive dangerousness. In 52′ the opponent’s goalkeeper, Riznyk, is again decisive, who, on one-on-one with Fabbian, immolates himself and saves Shakthar again. Castro and Ndoye’s attempts also followed. With the changes Italiano tried to seek alternative solutions, inserting Dallinga, Iling and Urbanski. Despite the final fatigue, Bologna does not give up, buoyed by their own cheers. The last ringing is Pobega’s header at 89′, but it is not enough. The Emilians will be back on the field in the Champions League on Wednesday, Oct. 2, expected to play an away match against Liverpool.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
