It’s more than just a metro stop; it’s a physical and symbolic journey into Rome’s past. For the first time, the Colosseum Archaeological Park will participate in Open House Roma (May 16-24), organizing guided tours of the Colosseum/Fori Imperiali station-museum on Metro C, which is one of the most remarkable examples of the integration of contemporary infrastructure and archaeological heritage. The exhibition, housed in the station’s underground spaces, recounts over 2,000 years of history discovered during excavations: an extraordinary journey that includes 28 Republican-era wells, the balneum of a domus dating from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD, and Imperial-era residences with still-visible frescoes. The designers will lead the tours, together with archaeologists and restorers from the Colosseum Archaeological Park.

Made in Italy continues to be told as an excellence recognized everywhere, but the available data show a situation a less linear thread: export grows, but also the dissolution of imitations increases; the attraction between young people increases, but structural problems remain at work; we talk a lot of innovation, but it is not always perceived abroad. The day of April 15, set up to enhance the Italian production system, has become an opportunity to better understand what really works and what remains fragile.

At the Auditorium of the Technique of Confindustria, the main organisation of representation of Italian companies and services, Made in Italy Community brought together companies and institutions to address this discard between reality and perception. The founder Roberto Santori, CEO of Challenge Network SpA, has indicated as priority the construction of a narrative on Made in Italy more extensive and shared: it is necessary to be able to make the variety of Italian production system more legible abroad. Because it is not exclusively about promoting products with banal marketing, but trying to make them recognize as part of a coherent, Italian identity.

The president of Simest, Vittorio de Pedys, recalled that Italy is among the first three exporters in the world in 976 commodity categories. In 2025 the total value of exports reached 643 billion euros, with an increase of 3.3%, driven by +7% of the United States, as underlined by foreign minister Antonio Tajani and by minister Adolfo Urso. We remain, in short, highly competitive internationally, but this is not enough to solve the criticalities related to perception and protection.

The phenomenon of Italian sounding remains one of the main heels of our export: according to a research of Tp Infinity, 45% of international consumers bought at least once products that imitate the Italian ones and 28% declare to have them preferred to the original. This highlights a problem of brand recognition and protection. Giannola Nonino, president of Nonino, recalled the need to protect the names more effectively, as happens in other European countries.

And then there is the relationship with the new generations: 79% of young Italians consider it attractive to work in companies of Made in Italy and 92% associate it with a reason of pride. At the same time precise demands emerge: more competitive salaries, more meritocracy and more structured growth paths. The perception remains different between the internal market and abroad: in Italy Made in Italy is associated mainly with the quality of craftsmanship, while abroad prevails an image linked to luxury and lifestyle, a simplification that contributes to making the diffusion of imitations more effective.

During the morning, the President of the Council Giorgia Meloni, in a video message published on his social channels, spoke of the day as a moment to promote the valorization of Italian historical brands. The register The register of “Historical brands of national interest” has reached a thousand companies, which together generate approximately 100 billion euros of turnover and occupy more than 350 thousand people. In short, Made in Italy is not only culture and pride, but also an important productive segment.

There has always been a paradox at the heart of Italy.

It is one of the most visited countries in the world — and yet, much of what makes it truly valuable remains largely inaccessible. Not hidden, exactly. But not structured to be experienced from the outside.

For decades, international audiences — including the Italian diaspora — have engaged with Italy through its most visible layers: cities, monuments, cuisine, lifestyle.

But behind that surface lies something deeper: A living system of production, craftsmanship, and local knowledge that is rarely translated into an accessible experience. Something is now starting to shift.

A different way of reading Italy is beginning to emerge — one that moves from “visiting places” to accessing systems. Not destinations, but territories. Not attractions, but production ecosystems.

Take, for example, emerging territorial systems such as Lake Garda & Franciacorta.

At first glance, it is easy to recognize their global appeal: lake landscapes, vineyards, well-known destinations.

But when observed more closely, a more interesting structure begins to appear: A connected territorial system where landscape, production, and everyday life are deeply intertwined.

A winery is not just a place for tasting — it is an entry point into a long-term relationship between land, climate, and human expertise.

A craft workshop is not simply a visit — it is a way to understand how Italian identity is shaped through materials, techniques, and space.

Even something as familiar as pizza, when experienced inside a working environment, becomes part of a broader cultural and productive system.

What is changing is not the territory itself. It is the possibility of access. For the first time, these layers are starting to be organized, translated, and made legible for an international audience —
not as isolated experiences, but as coherent systems.

This shift has implications that go well beyond tourism. Because once you move from “seeing” to “understanding,” a different type of relationship becomes possible.

A relationship that is not only cultural, but also economic. For many Italian-Americans, this represents something new. A way to reconnect with Italy that goes beyond heritage or nostalgia,
and enters a more active dimension — one that involves knowledge, networks, and potentially even business.

Italy, in this sense, is not changing. But the way it can be accessed is. And that may open a new chapter in how the country relates to the world — and how the world relates back to Italy.

There has always been a paradox in the way Italy is lived. It is one of the most visited countries in the world – and yet much of what makes it truly unique remains, in fact, difficult to reach. Not hidden, but not really accessible. For years, the international public – including the Italian diaspora – has known Italy through its most visible dimensions: cities, monuments, kitchen, lifestyle.

But behind this surface there is another level: A living system made of enterprises, crafts, productive knowledge that is rarely made understandable and accessible from the outside. Something’s starting to change today. It is emerging a new way of reading Italy, which shifts attention from “visiting places” to understanding systems.

Not only destinations, but territories. Not only attractions, but productive ecosystems. An interesting example is that of emerging territorial systems such as Lake Garda and Franciacorta. At first glance, these are already known territories: iconic landscapes, cellars, consolidated destinations. But observing them more closely, a different structure emerges: A connected territorial system, in which landscape, production and daily life are deeply interwoven. A winery is not only a tasting place – but the expression of a continuous relationship between territory, climate and expertise.

A workshop is not only a visit – but a point of access to a material culture that defines the Italian identity. Even a seemingly simple experience, like a pizzeria, becomes a key to reading a wider production system.

What is changing is not the territory. It is the possibility of access. For the first time, these levels are beginning to be organized, translated and readable for an international audience – not as isolated experiences, but as consistent systems. This passage has implications that go beyond tourism. Because when you go from “see” to “understanding”, a different relationship opens.

Not only cultural, but also economic. For many Italian-Americans, this is an important novelty. A way to reconnect to Italy that goes beyond the identity dimension, entering into a more active sphere — made of knowledge, relationships and opportunities.

Italy is not changing. It is changing the way you can access it. And this could open a new phase in the relationship between the country and its communities around the world.

We offer the famous chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo along with his wife Cinzia Primatesta: Laqua Collection reopens its season on April 3, and is a truly unmissable experience for those who want to experience the best of Italian hospitality.

The first resort, Laqua by the Lake, is located in Pettenasco, in Piedmont, overlooking the enchanting Lake Orta, a gem nestled between the Alps and the hilly woods alongside Lake Maggiore. It offers five double rooms, fourteen suites and two panoramic attics, and for a very special stay the beautiful Villa on Lake, a real house with private services. In addition, the Longevity Suite, spa where we recommend to try the massage of couple “deep rejuvenating” or the individual classic “deep infinity” and the star restaurant Cannavacciuolo by the Lake, led by chef Gianni Bertone, who also proposes the artisan dove and chocolate eggs of Cannavacciuolo Lab. In case of packages for couples and families, for children there is even a “caccia alle ovette”.

If you prefer the countryside, here is Laqua Countryside, 8 rooms immersed in the green of olive groves and the scent of citrus fruits on the hills of Ticciano, a childhood home of chef Antonino in the province of Naples. Here you will also find a Michelin star restaurant, where you will be delighted by chef Nicola Somma. To try the tasting menu “Nonna Fiorentina” or, for Easter, the special that celebrates spring through dishes such as squid with beans and lemon, risotto with asparagus and a dessert from screaming that combines chocolate, raspberry and candied lemon.

You chose the sea? Laqua by the Sea, in Meta di Sorrento, is the place for you, from which you can also easily reach the enchanting Positano and Amalfi, the excavations of Pompeii and the iconic island of Capri. There are six sea-view rooms, furnished according to the principles of Feng Shui, and the Easter offer includes a package for two nights with spa ritual, artisanal dove of the Cannavacciuolo workshop in room and dinner at the star restaurant Laqua Countryside with tasting menu “Nonna Fiorentina” or the Easter special.

The meeting is part of Italy’s initiatives to promote the refinancing of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), represented at the meeting by the Delegate Director Laura Frigenti.

In his opening speech, the Permanent Representative Giorgio Marrapodi highlighted Italy’s strong commitment to promoting affordable and quality education, a priority of foreign policy, the model of Italian development cooperation and one of the main action leaders of the Mattei Plan. Education, training and acquisition of skills, the Ambassador observed, are among the key factors to stimulate innovation, strengthen social inclusion and “do not leave anyone behind”, as the motto of Agenda 2030 states.

Italy has officially announced its intention to co-organise the GPE refinancing campaign for the period 2026-2030 on the occasion of an event at the margins of the United Nations General Assembly on 24 September 2025, attended by the Deputy Foreign Minister and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, the Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima and the President of the GPE (and former President of Tanzania).

It will also work with the DGIT V Office to define the setting up of the informal and operational work table required by the CGIE in the matter of Italian language and culture management bodies, with respect to which the Directorate-General has demonstrated availability, and to deepen the project of creating a portal for the simplification of bureaucratic procedures to the burden of such entities, long invoked by the General Council.

The programme then provides for a working section with CNEL Vice-President Claudio Risso to continue the collaboration between the two institutions and develop the points of common interest identified in the Interinstitutional Agreement signed last year. It also includes the signing ceremony of the agreement protocol with the Museo dell’Emigrazione Italiana, with which a list of common projects will be examined.

For over a century and a half Italian citizenship has been based on the principle of ius sanguinis: it is a citizen who is born from an Italian citizen. The ius sanguinis was one of the legal pillars of the State since the birth of united Italy and linked the country to its diaspora. This system could now change significantly after the intervention of the Italian Constitutional Court, which rejected most of the disputes against the law introduced in 2025 by the government led by Giorgia Meloni.

The rule, approved by decree in March 2025, substantially restricts the right to citizenship for those born abroad. According to the new discipline, only descendants with at least one parent or grandfather born in Italy can be recognized. A further requirement is introduced: that ancestor must have kept Italian citizenship exclusively at the time of the birth of the descendant, or at the time of his death if it occurred before.

The appeal examined by the Court had been filed by some judges of the Court of Turin, who had raised doubts about the constitutional legitimacy of the reform. After the first hearing, however, the Court stated the questions “partly unfounded and partly inadmissible”, in fact anticipating support for the government’s position. The full reason for the judgment should be published in the coming weeks, but the indication arrived from the Court has already drastically reduced the expectations of those who hoped for an annulment of the rule.

The system of ius sanguinis has accompanied the history of Italian emigration. Between 1861 and 1918 about 16 million Italians left the country to look for work and opportunities elsewhere, especially in the Americas. Many of them retained Italian citizenship even after obtaining another nationality, transmitting it to their children and grandchildren. The principle was formalized in the civil code of 1865, then confirmed by the law on citizenship of 1912 and the 1992 reform.

In recent years, however, the system has often been put under pressure: requests for recognition of citizenship by descendants abroad have increased rapidly, especially in countries with strong presence of Italian origin such as Argentina, Brazil and the United States. According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between 2014 and 2024 the number of Italian citizens resident abroad has passed from 4.6 to 6.4 million. Only in 2024 the Italian consulates in Argentina managed about 30 thousand questions of citizenship, ten thousand more than the previous year.

The process of recognition was already complex before the reform: the applicants had to reconstruct the entire genealogical line, recover certificates of birth, marriage and death from the Italian archives – often with costs that reach approximately 300 euros per document – and demonstrate that no ancestor had lost citizenship. To this were added lists of consular waiting that in some places exceeded the ten years. In order to speed up the procedure many families addressed the Italian courts, however, helping to further congest the judicial system.

Some jurists, such as Marco Mellone, argue that the game is not definitively closed and that new appeals may reach the Court of Cassation or the European institutions.

Article The Constitutional Court dismissed the appeals against the hold on ius sanguinis proviene da IlNewyorkese.

The post The Constitutional Court rejected the appeals against the close on ius sanguinis appeared first on Good Morning Italy.

The title already told a world: “Hoboken and return tourism: when the roots become destination. Marriage as a bridge between generations and geographies. ”

A theme that not only speaks of tourism, but of belonging. Of families leaving and returning. Of communities that, while living far, continue to look at Puglia as at their home.

The panel focused the many communities of the Apulians in the World, protagonists of a collective history that has never interrupted. A story made of painful departures, sacrifices, but also successes, pride and a bond that crosses oceans and generations.

Today that link is called return tourism: a phenomenon that is not only travel, but reconnection. Reconnect with the family, with the community, with memory.

Among the most anticipated voices, Roberto Pansini, International Ambassador of the Hoboken Italian Festival and CEO of I Love Molfetta, for over twenty years a reference point for the Molfettesi communities abroad.

Pansini recalled how return tourism is an emotional and strategic lever: a journey that regenerates territories, economies and above all identity.

He brought the most powerful example: in New Jersey, the Molfette community is preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Hoboken Italian Festival – the Feast of Madonna dei Martiri, an event that attracts thousands of people and represents one of the largest cultural bridges between Puglia and the United States.

The panel also welcomed the testimony of Daniele Di Fronzo, Vice President of the General Council of Apulians in the World – Puglia Region, who stressed the strength of the Apulian communities in Chicago and their role in generating tourist flows to the region.

To follow, Francesco Muciaccia di Pugliapromozione has brought data and confirmations: Puglia is today an international brand, recognized for history, authenticity, food, hospitality, and the new air routes are significantly expanding the number of foreign visitors.

The tourism of the roots, he explained, is not a niche: it is a motor that grows, that emotions, that creates lasting connections.

The journalist Antonio Marzano, moderator of the meeting, highlighted another phenomenon in strong growth: the choice of Puglia as a place to celebrate international weddings.

Not only for the beauty of the places, but for that way of life that puts in the center heat, conviviality, slowness, authenticity. Characteristics that make you feel who comes… already home.

In closing, the greetings of Davide Ippolito, CEO and Founder of Il Newyorkese and director of the documentary “New York Solo Andata”, which tells the American dream of the first Italian emigrants.

From his editorial, he explained, comes a very clear feedback: Italians abroad speak more and more about tourism of the roots, of return, of belonging. And the new generations – children and grandchildren of emigrants – want to discover the land of their grandparents, touch it, live it, feel it own.

The meeting was intense, full of visions and testimonies. He showed a Puglia that continues to speak to the world with its authenticity, and a world that continues to return to Puglia to find a piece of itself.

Because the tourism of the roots is not only an area: it is a bridge. It’s a hug. It is proof that distances are measured in kilometers, but belonging… that is not.

Cagliari officially opens a new phase of its corporate history with the entry of the U.S. fund Praxis, which acquired 49% of the club’s shares. It is not only a financial transaction, but a strategic step that strengthens the link between Italy and the United States at a time when European football increasingly looks overseas.

The majority remain in the hands of the current property, but the entry of an American weight partner marks a significant turning point. It is a partnership built on balance and shared vision: on the one hand the tradition and identity rooted in Sardinian territory, on the other the ability to invest and the managerial mentality typical of US funds.

The operation is part of a wider context of US interest towards Serie A, a championship that has seen significantly increase the presence of American capital in recent years. For US investors, Italian football is a strategic asset: historical brand, loyal typhuseries, potential for commercial growth still partly unexplored.

Cagliari Praxis 49% Italy USA is not only a given percentage, but a symbol of connection between two worlds. The United States brings expertise in finance, international marketing and infrastructure development; Italy offers a rooted football tradition, a strong cultural identity and a passionate audience.

This type of child participation allows the club to benefit from new resources without losing its own decision-making autonomy. Praxis will be able to affect medium-long-term strategies, contributing to economic planning and commercial growth, but respecting the reddish identity and the link with Sardinia.

In a time when football is increasingly global, the synergy between American capital and Italian sports culture can become a competitive factor. It is no coincidence that US investment points on clubs with strong territorial identity: they represent authentic brands, able to tell stories and generate value over time.

From a financial point of view, the entrance to Praxis strengthens the club’s stability. In a system regulated by stringent economic constraints and an increasingly complex competitive balance, having an international partner means being able to plan more serenity.

But the real challenge will be the integration of different management models. The U.S. entrepreneurial culture, oriented to the efficiency and growth of the brand, will have to dialogue with the Italian sports tradition, which places the symbolic value of the jersey and the relationship with the territory.

The future of Cagliari will depend on the ability to transform this meeting between Italy and the USA into a concrete advantage: targeted investments, infrastructure development, enhancement of the youth sector and strengthening of sports competitiveness.

The agreement with Praxis therefore marks the beginning of a path that goes beyond the numbers. It is the opening of a bridge between Sardinia and the United States, between local identity and global vision. If well managed, this alliance will be able to represent a model of virtuous collaboration in the panorama of modern football.

L’articolo Cagliari speaks American: the entry of Praxis joins Italy and the USA in a new chapter redblue proviene da IlNewyorkese.

The post Cagliari speaks American: the entrance of Praxis unites Italy and USA in a new chapter redblue appeared first on Good Morning Italy.
