ROMA (ITALPRESS) – School directors, students and Pro Loco gathered in the room Giulio Cesare in Campidoglio for the award ceremony of the competition “Save your local language”, school section. The national literary award, which reached its eleventh edition, is promoted by Unpli – National Union Pro Loco of Italy and Ali – Local Autonomies for Italy, with the collaboration of the International Centre Eugenio Montale and, for the school section, Eip – School Instrument of Peace. “This opportunity is important to give young people the opportunity to meet dialects and local languages. There has been great participation and numbers speak clear: 1000 boys involved in over 90 institutions present, and this is the fruit of the work of teachers. It is essential that the language passes by the boys and is maintained for the future,” says Antonino La Spina, President Unpli.
The initiative also confirms its cultural and educational value this year, involving about 90 Italian schools and a Croatian institute on a path dedicated to the protection of linguistic heritage, the memory of communities and the dialogue between generations.
The local languages and dialects represent a living part of the identity of the territories: they preserve stories, traditions, ways of thinking and expressive forms that risk losing themselves if they are not transmitted to the younger ones. Bringing them to schools means recognizing their educational value and strengthening the link between students, families and communities.
“It was not for granted that so many schools participated, that they have tried something that does not directly touch the boys. Schools are increasingly multiethnic and the commitment of individuals to make known the language of the place where one lives is a great sign of peace,” adds Luca Abbruzzetti, president of ALI Lazio.
The morning in Campidoglio celebrated students, school leaders, referent teachers and Pro Loco who contribute to the dissemination of the Award and to the promotion of territorial identities through poetry, prose and music. “The dialects are the tool to bring children closer to a more material reality, to a world where the day was more directly lived. Responsibility of the language is important: there are words defined empty boxes – such as freedom, democracy, love and pain – and we must fill them with things. The more we know words and the more we express our thoughts”, the thought of Elio Pecora, president of the Jury of the Prize.
After the awards, the Award “Cultori del dialetto e delle lingua locale” was awarded to Professor Francesco Avolio, professor of Linguistica at the University of L’Aquila, and the “Testimone del Genius Loci” Award to Angela Puglisi, president of the Pro Loco di Novara di Sicilia. Recognition also to the UNPLI Pro Loco which have distinguished themselves in the dissemination of the Prize and in the involvement of school institutions.

The initiative is part of the action of the European Commission to integrate the voice of young people in the elaboration of EU policies.

About a thousand young people took part in the inaugural event in Brussels, opened by a video message from Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament. Glenn Micallef, Commissioner for Intergenerational Equity, Youth, Culture and Sport, took part in opening and comparing with young citizens and representatives of the Member States and European institutions.

This year’s edition will focus on solidarity and equity, with particular attention to social inclusion and equal opportunities for young people. The events can be consulted through an interactive map on the European Portal for young people. In addition, they will offer a platform for dialogue between young people and EU decision makers, integrating dialogues with young people on current political initiatives with European Commissioners.

The European Youth Week will also include an event dedicated to the celebration of 30 years of EU volunteering, from the European Voluntary Service to the current European Solidarity Corps. “Young people are the heart of Europe. The European Youth Week is dedicated to them: to their dreams, their ideas and their creativity – said Commissioner Micallef -. It is an opportunity to offer them new opportunities to make their voice heard and help shape the future of Europe. For some, this is the beginning of a path towards active citizenship. In 2026, the Week will once again reaffirm the importance of listening to young people and ensuring that solidarity and equity remain at the heart of our policies.”.

During the press conference, the Minister for Sport and the young Andrea Abodi and the National President of Croce Rossa Rosario Valastro spoke. “It is the resumption of a path that had lost its sense, the initiative is very important and is part of a series of initiatives that we are doing with other institutions that allow direct knowledge of the matter to young people, who must begin to train sensitivity on risk profiles and risk awareness,” says Abodi, who aims to ensure good prospects for future generations: “We believe in this initiative with the assumption that Italy helps Italy, in a relationship that must be not incidental but constant. We want to avoid marginality and loneliness so that the new generations can see a positive perspective.”.

The initiative includes 8 camps in summer 2026 and 20 fields in summer 2027 and will involve a total of 560 boys and girls aged between 18 and 25. “We are achieving two goals: to allow the Red Cross to promote the values of inclusion and active citizenship and to resume a tradition that from 2010 to 2012 saw me as an organizer. We want to strengthen local communities and national communities so as to build an increasingly strong nation,” adds Valastro.

The main objectives of the project – presented by Gabriele Calì, national technical delegate Activities for the Youth of the Italian Red Cross – are to promote the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteering, unity and universality, improve the formation of young people on the issues of education to health, prevention and healthy lifestyles and learn first aid techniques and encourage active and responsible participation of young people in the life of the community. By promoting young people’s access to educational and training opportunities outside the residential context, the Red Cross aims to reduce inequalities in access to opportunities and care, in order to broaden regional and national communities.

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The digital skills of elementary children grow by 8 percentage points, the average increases the ability to better manage time in front of the screen and to recognize digital isolation, while almost 9 out of 10 students throughout the sample notice improvements in the online habits of parents. These are some of the evidence provided by the impact assessment of NeoConnessi, the digital education program of Wind Tre that has achieved cumulatively 2.5 million children and half of Italian schools, realized by Triadi, spin-off of the Politecnico di Milano. The analysis was presented today at the conference “Digital education works!”. The data shows that children and adolescents live a continuous exposure to digital: 72% use the Internet to do research and 26% have already experienced AI tools. However, a child out of 4 does not recognize fundamental risks such as fake news, while 3 out of 4 have no awareness of excessive screentime, deepfake and improper sharing of personal data. Families also appear fragile: three out of four do not feel safe in guiding children and daughters in the use of technology. The study, based on tests administered before and after the course, highlights a net impact: digital education strengthens skills and changes behaviors, generating a systemic effect between school and family.

Triadi’s results show that structured interventions can really improve skills, awareness and digital habits, with positive effects on child welfare. The analysis, in fact, notes that before the path children are already very exposed to digital, but without adequate critical tools. After the course, the skills, measured thanks to the correct test responses, increase from 82% to 90%. Improve netiquette (+19%), understanding artificial intelligence (+15%) and online research (+14%). Approximately half of pupils say they know new digital risks from the beginning. In the first grade secondary, the most advanced skills grow: students improve in source selection (+13 points) and increase the ability to recognize and prevent emerging risks, from digital isolation (+8) to visual and postural stress (+7). It also raises attention to copyright and personal data management. The greater attention to the screentime also leads to a change in behaviors: the number of those who do not pay attention and increases that of those who declare to actively monitor it. Overall, students show a stronger ability to orient themselves in digital, distinguishing reliable content and better assessing the impact of their online actions.

But not only, one of the most significant results is the effect generated on the family context: 89% of students observe an improvement in the use of digital by parents after the school path. In addition, 77% of families say they have introduced, wanted to introduce or have improved the use of parental control. A particularly important systemic effect: the knowledge acquired by children and daughters activate new domestic habits, strengthening the awareness of adults on privacy, security and management of online time. The evaluation also highlights the central role of the school. 98% of the teaching staff feel more prepared and safer in dealing with digital issues, while 79% declare that they have obtained concrete ideas for daily teaching and over 90% detect improvements in the cognitive, social and emotional skills of students. Another area is the introduction of media education elements, in line with the Digital Citizenship Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education and Merit and also referred to in the report: guidelines that include themes such as artificial intelligence, digital communication, online research and sources verification. In this context, 81% of the teaching staff intends to introduce or broaden these contents in their teaching.

“The impact assessment of NeoConnects shows that the program works on all three levels: students improve digital skills and learn to recognize risks that they previously ignored, from cyberbullying to deepfake, from sharenting to personal data management; teachers feel more prepared; families acquire concrete tools to accompany children. What is more striking is the effect that goes beyond school: 89% of young people notice a more correct and safe use of digital even by parents. In a context where about three out of four families do not feel safe in guiding their children online, structured digital education shows that they can produce concrete and measurable results.” Gabriele Guzzetti, Director of Triadi. According to Roberto Basso, director of External Relations and Sustainability of Wind Tre, the data “help us out of a misleading narrative: it is not a single platform the problem, nor is technology itself. Kids and girls grow up in a complex digital ecosystem, which requires more aware adults, equipped school and shared responsibility. With this year’s edition NeoConnessi will reach 2.5 million students and more than half of Italian schools: a dimension that makes the project one of the broadest and most continuous observers on the relationship between minors and digital in our country – concludes -. An observatory that shows a clear thing: when education is structured, continuous and involves families and institutions, behaviors really change.” Teresa Mazzone, president SIP Lazio and Commission digital dependencies, points out that “we need the family, pediatrics, society and school to grow a child in the best possible ways. At what age to introduce the smartphone and not deny internet access? We stopped at 13 years because the risk areas are so many: doomed psychophysical health to online security“. Therefore it is necessary to “prevent the risks of addiction, promote real and creative experiences; technology clearly should not be demonized, but it is necessary to raise awareness of the family to use parental control but above all to foster the relationship”, he concludes.

The initiative, promoted by Coldiretti Giovani Impresa, brings together institutional representatives, experts and industry leaders to discuss opportunities, challenges and future trajectories, with a particular focus on the role of young people in the transformation and innovation of the sector. Among the speakers also the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for the United Kingdom, Roberto Costa, intervened in the second panel “Le traiettorie per i giovani”.

Its contribution focused on the strategic value of wine for the new generations, with particular attention to the role of catering as a vehicle of promotion of the Italian product and the dynamics of export in international markets, increasingly central for the growth of the sector.

The event offered a space of concrete dialogue between young entrepreneurs, institutions and professionals in the sector, highlighting how wine represents not only a pillar of Made in Italy, but also an area where young people can express innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial capacity.

In this context, the importance of developing transversal skills, a solid international vision and a strong ability to adapt to a constantly changing global market has been highlighted. Particular attention has been paid to the comparison between experiences and good practices, promoting the exchange of ideas between different realities and generations, and helping to outline new strategies for the future of the Italian wine industry.

The participation of the President of the ICCIUK confirms the commitment of the Chamber in promoting dialogue between Italy and the United Kingdom and in supporting the new generations of Italian companies in their internationalization path. Through its network and its activities, the Chamber contributes to strengthening the presence of Made in Italy on foreign markets and to support the competitiveness of the wine sector globally.

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Listening to the needs and hopes of young people is the prerequisite for facing problems and building a better society. And it is even more urgent to do so today, at a time in which they emerge among the youngest unpublished fragility, often marked by loneliness, disorientation, difficulty building authentic relationships and discerning the real from the virtual. Real relationships leave too often the step to virtual ones. We tend more and more to prefer the speed and comfort of the smartphone to the slowness and fatigue of a physical encounter. This new ‘normality’ has uninhabited us in listening, in relation, in comparison. It is an awareness that imposes an assumption of responsibility, which falls first of all on the shoulders of those who should have greater ‘instruments’ and ‘antibodies’ to defend themselves against those insidious. I mean, we adults. And I speak of ‘we’ because, as a mother and as president of the Council, I feel the first to be called into question. The first to understand that the adult world is not doing enough to protect children and children.” Thus premier Giorgia Meloni, in a message sent on the occasion of the second National Day of the Listening of the Minors.

“The first – he explains – is to be aware that it takes a step forward, to give young generations those answers they try to find in the dependence on social media, digital, technology. Because social media, digital, technology is no problem in itself. These are symptoms of much wider problems, which we cannot understand or that we probably do not want to look at. Technological tools – adds – amplify existing fragility, create new ones and extremize them. This is why the government is working to identify the most effective mechanisms to intervene. The aim is not to introduce easily bypassable prohibitions, but to offer protection and safety alternatives and to create, as much as possible, safe and protected digital ecosystems. There are different options to the study, and the Government will treasure the proposals and suggestions that will emerge even today. Because our purpose is to build a society more attentive to the needs of children and children, and initiatives like this are very useful to identify the best solutions,” Meloni concludes.

GENOVA (ITALPRESS) – The level of financial education in Liguria is equal to the Italian average (56 points out of 100), therefore under the sufficiency (60). This is what emerges from the last edition of Edufin Index, the Observatory on the awareness and financial and insurance behaviour of Italians, promoted by Alleanza Assicurazioni, company of the General Group, together with Fondazione Mario Gasbarri, with the scientific collaboration of SDA Bocconi, School of Management.
The regional results on Liguria were presented today, Wednesday, April 8, in Genoa, within the second stage of the “Tour of Financial Education” of Alleanza, which this year is renewed with the partnership with Starting Finance, the largest group of education and information economic-financial and professional in Italy dedicated to young people, with a community of over 2,5 million users. This year’s Tour is dedicated to strengthening the awareness of under 35 on financial, insurance and social issues.
A path designed to offer clear information and useful tools, supporting the new generations in the choices that will affect their future.
Alliance and its network of 10 thousand consultants will be so engaged during the year in 14 events across the country to respond to the situations of financial fragility highlighted by the latest edition of Edufin Index.
According to the report, Liguria is in line with the rest of Italy also for the Longevity Index (55 out of 100), an index that measures awareness on the growing duration of life.
The Ligurians show less preparation on the pension system (Pension Index), reporting a score under the national average (47 vs. 48).
There are also some gender differences in this region, for all three indicators.
In the case of the Edufin Index the gap is positive, with a higher score by women (women 57 vs. men 55), compared to the national figure that sees men obtain better results (women 54 vs. 59 men).
In the Longevity Index there is only one detachment point: women report a score of 55 while men of 56 (national date of 54 for women and 56 for men).
The most relevant gender gap in Liguria emerges on the Pension Index, equal to 13 points (women 41 vs. men 54) against the 11 points at national level (43 vs. 54).
On the generational level, young Ligurians between 18 and 34 years are less prepared than peers on financial and insurance issues (49 points at regional level vs. 53 at national level), but especially in the knowledge of the pension system (Pension Index), for which they record a score of 36 against the national average of 44. However, they are more prepared in the Longevity Index than the national average (58 vs. 53). Over 65 Ligurians, compared to the Italian average, are less prepared in all three indicators with a detachment of two points: Edufin 55 points vs. 57 points, Longevity 54 vs. 56 and Pension 46 vs. 49.
Claudia Ghinfanti, Head of Marketing and Communication of Alleanza Assicurazioni commented: “In investing on its financial and insurance skills contributes significantly to personal growth and social well-being: for this reason, as highlighted by the latest edition of Edufin Index, it is necessary to take effective action to create awareness on these issues at all ages. Young people are today among the most fragile categories, especially between 18 and 34 years, and are also in Liguria, where levels of preparation on the pension system are under the national average. Our new Financial Education Tour was born from this requirement, which in 2026 renewed the commitment of Alleanza Assicurazioni with 14 appointments throughout Italy dedicated to young people. Thanks also to the involvement of our network of consultants and the collaboration with Starting Finance, we want to offersimple and concrete tools to start building your own previdential future, helping young people make conscious choices and look at tomorrow with greater serenity.”
In Liguria, Alleanza Assicurazioni is present with 10 agencies, 9 agents and 219 employees. The Company has for years been engaged in a mission that sees it in the forefront: promoting financial and insurance education of Italians, a social role of great importance and perfectly consistent with the objectives of UN Agenda 2030.
In this context, Alliance promotes the “National Plan for Financial Education and Ensure”, articulated in free seminars. In Liguria in 2025 67 events were realized, between “Protection Day”, “Investment Day”, “Previdenza Day” and “Protection & Investment Lounge”, which involved a total of 875 participants.
After Liguria, the tour will touch Rome on April 10 with the first of the three SFIM, Starting Finance Investment Meeting, the largest Italian event on Edufin for under 35.

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – From tomorrow, April 3, digital service providers in the European Union will no longer be able to detect material related to online sexual abuse on children on their platforms. This is the alarm launched by 247 organisations working to promote the rights of minors and counter sexual abuse, including Save the Children Italia, following the failure to approve the second extension of a temporary derogation to ePrivacy rules, approved in 2021, which has so far allowed technological enterprises to voluntarily detect images and videos related to sexual abuse on minors online.

In the absence of stable legal bases, unfortunately still absent, the extension would allow platforms to continue detection activities (detection), fundamental to identify abuse materials and block circulation, and stop perpetuating abuse and trauma for minor victims. The signatories of the appeal strongly condemn the inability of EU political decision-makers to overcome the political stalemate and find an agreement to allow detection activities (detection), an attitude that has caused a serious gap in child protection, with consequences that risk being devastating.

The appeal – promoted by the European Child Sexual Abuse Legislation Advocacy Group (ECLAG) and signed by leading experts in child protection and child rights – invites EU policy makers to act urgently to adopt a solid and permanent legal framework that ensures the continuation of the detection of sexual abuse on children online. To counter the millions of images and videos of sexual abuse on minors who circulate online, large-scale detection is essential, so that platforms can quickly identify and report illegal content to police forces, starting investigations that allow victims to be identified and secured to justice.

The detection also allows companies to quickly remove illegal material and prevent further spread. In recent years 99% of the millions of reported images and videos come from platforms using these technologies. It is thanks to this commitment that every year thousands of victims are recognized and millions of abusive files are deleted from the network. If the ability to detect these contents was less, the number of reports would fall drastically, as happened in 2021, when, following the suspension of the legal framework that allowed detection and before the derogation was approved, the reports of material relating to sexual abuse on online minors decreased by 58%.

Such a drastic reduction would compromise the work of police forces, it would make it impossible to start and complete many investigations and leave children and girls trapped in situations of abuse or exposed to violent content. At the same time, illegal content would continue to circulate undisturbed, forcing victims to relive trauma whenever the material is displayed or shared.

“Every image, every video of abuse represents a child, a child, a teenager, exposed to a devastating violation of his dignity, his own security, his privacy. Behind those files there are wounds that continue to reopen. Child protection is not an option, nor a negotiable theme. It is a binding obligation, enshrined in European and international law, as well as an ethical imperative that does not admit derogations,” said Giorgia D’Errico, Director of Institutional Relations of Save the Children. “As we recalled in February in the audition before the EU Political Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, which had then expressed positively on the extension in question, the abuse and sexual exploitation of minors could not exist online without the circulation of images and other pedopornographic content. For this reason, intercepting and blocking this material is an essential part of the contrast system. It is no longer time for hesitation, but to act, with responsibility, courage and urgency. We cannot allow institutional immobilism to continue to fall on the most vulnerable.”.

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In 2025 it is 46.4% the share of people aged 18 and overweight, among them 34.8% is overweight and 11.6% in obesity condition (5 million 750 thousand people). The data is stable compared to the last three years (it was 46.3% in 2023). However, the analysis of the last 10 years shows an increase of 1.3 percentage points, determined by the indicator component relative to obesity, passed from 9.8% to 11.6%. It’s what emerges from an Istat report, according to which it decreased slightly, instead, the quota relative to the overweight, passed from 35.5% in 2015 to 34.8% in 2025. The increase in obesity over time has involved men and women in equal measure, mainly affecting the population of 18-54 years (+2.4 percentage points), while in other age classes the phenomenon has remained altogether stable. The proportion of people in excess of weight grows when the age increases. In particular, the overweight goes from 16.8% in the age range 18-24 years to 41.6% among people aged 75 and over, while obesity varies from 4.4% between 18-24 years and 15.2% between 65 and 74 years.

In the age range from 3 to 17 years in the two-year period 2024-2025 little more than one out of four (26.0%) is excess of weight (for a total of about 2 million children and boys). In 2025 it is 30.8% the share of people of 3 years and more sedentary, who declare that they do not carry out sports or physical activity in leisure time (about 17 million 670 thousand people). The sedentary indicator shows a significant improvement compared to 2024 (when it reached 33.1%), confirming the decrease trend recorded in recent years. The sedentary share is 15.5% among children aged 6-10 years and is kept low among children, while from 35-44 years it already covers more than one adult on four. In 2025 46.8% of the adult population of 18 years and more has declared to be affected by at least one chronic pathology in a list of 19 diseases, while it is 26.5% the share of those who report the presence of comorbility (at least two chronic pathologies). In 2025 it is 18.6% the share of smokers between the population of 11 years and more (equal to about 10 million people), value that is decreasing compared to the recorded in 2024 (19.2%).

Higher proportions of smokers are observed from the 18-24-year-old age group (22.9%), to the highest level among people aged 25-34 (27.4%). In 2025 the 15.1% of the population of 11 years and more (equal to 8 million and 79 thousand people) has at least one behaviour at risk of consumption of alcoholic beverages (usual consumption of excess or drunkenness, the so-called binge drinking). Among men the share is 21.3% (5 million 565 thousand people) while among women is 9.1% (2 million 515 thousand). There is substantial stability in the proportion of consumers at risk compared to 2024 (15.0%). Excessive habitual consumption is 8.3% of the population (11.4% men, 5.3% women), binge drinking 8.2% (12.0% men, 4.6% women). Non-moderate behaviors in alcohol consumption are observed more frequently among 11-17-year-olds (15.4%, with values aligned between boys and girls, respectively 15.8% and 15.1%), among young people and adults up to 44 years (17.0%, 22.6% for men and 11.2% for women) and among oversixty-five years (17.2%, 28.8% for men and women). In 2025 it is 7.4% the population share of 11 years and more that it has habit to use electronic cigarette and/or non-burned heated tobacco products, with a fairly aligned prevalence between men and women (7.7% and 7.1% respectively).
