ROME (ITALPRESS) – A winning combination born 60 years ago. The Hall of Honor of the “Salvo D’Acquisto” Barracks in Rome, headquarters of the Carabinieri’s “Specialized Mobile Units” division, in the presence of the commander of the Officers’ School Claudio Domizi, hosted the ceremony celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Carabinieri Sports Center. An event attended by, among others, Coni number one Giovanni Malagò, the head of the Department of Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Flavio Siniscalchi and and the president of the Paralympic Committee, Luca Pancalli. The ceremony opened with a greeting from the commander of the Carabinieri Sports Center, Brigadier General Gianni Massimo Cuneo, and a speech by Lieutenant General Claudio Domizi, which was followed by the screening of a film celebrating the department. After the speeches by Malagò and Pancalli, the Mascot of the Carabinieri Sports Center “Posillipo” was also presented, in the presence of family members of the late champion Raimondo D’Inzeo’s family, and with the presentation of certificates of sports merit to medalists and athletes who have distinguished themselves for their achievements at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Recognition will also be given to old glories of the past including Ezio Gamba, Gianluca Guazzaroni, Mauro Numa, Gabriella Paruzzi, Alfredo Rota, Giovanna Trillini and Armin Zoeggeler. For the occasion, a philatelic cancellation was also created by Poste Italiane as a symbolic reminder of the anniversary of the founding of the Sports Center, which was born in the spring of 1964 and, at the Games alone, counts 118 medals.
