WASHINGTON (USA) (ITALPRESS) – Strengthening cultural and sports links between Italy and the United States. This is the spirit of “Coffee & Calcium”, organized by Lega Serie A on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) in Washington. The initiative was enriched by the presence of leading figures from the football world and the Italian-American community: between these Ezio Maria Simonelli, president of the Serie A League, and Luigi De Siervo, CEO, who reiterated the commitment of the League in the promotion of Italian football internationally and in the opening of new channels of dialogue with the US public. “Football is an extraordinary cultural vehicle,” Simonelli said. “We are here not only to celebrate the past, but to build together new opportunities between Italy and the United States.” Simonelli added: “It is an honor to be here to bring Serie A to NIAF. This is a partnership for a very long future and we want to be close to you. Among the great goals is the desire to play the Italian Super Cup here in Washington”.
Alessandro Del Piero, who shared anecdotes of his career and reflections on the role of sport as a bridge between cultures. “I found a second home in the United States. Events like this show how much Italian football is also loved overseas – said Del Piero -. I must emphasize that, regardless of the work we do, Niaf was always a great support for all the Italians who came here. We must continue to promote Italy in the world and we must take full advantage of our potential.” To do the honors of home for the NIAF was president and CEO Robert Allegrini, who stressed the importance of collaboration with the League Serie A in a symbolic year for the foundation: “In our 50th anniversary, we are honored to welcome the Serie A League and to celebrate together the shared heritage that unites our communities.”.
“Coffee & Football” represented a moment of informal but significant confrontation, confirming the growing interest in Italian football in the United States and the will of sports institutions to strengthen their presence on a global scale. The event is part of the official Gala NIAF program, one of the most anticipated events of the Italian-American community in the USA.
