Dumfries saves Inter, 1-1 at Monza and Napoli in the lead

MONZA (ITALPRESS) – Monza frightened Inter Milan, didn’t beat them, only slowed them down, and in the end Napoli found themselves in the lead alone. In the evening post-match of the fourth day of Serie A, Nesta’s team stops Inter at 1-1. At the U-Power Stadium it all happens in the final ten minutes: it is Dumfries who responds to Dany Mota’s lead, saving the Nerazzurri from a bad figure. In Monza we see an Inter team definitely under pace and with rather confused ideas: moreover, Inzaghi’s changes in the second half are not convincing. As for the lineups, ahead of the commitment against Manchester City, Inzaghi opts for a reasoned turnover: space, therefore, for Frattesi, Asllani, De Vrij and Carlos Augusto. Nesta, on the other hand, confirms the Caprari-Maldini tandem behind Djuric. In the first half, the Inter maneuver lacked sufficient speed and Monza, defending with great self-sacrifice, managed to contain the offensive flair of the Italian champions. The noteworthy chances for Inter are just two. At 8′ Lautaro, with a header, did not frame the goal mirror from a good position; at 26′, following a perfect insertion, Frattesi found himself in the box, but sent the ball just wide. At the beginning of the second half, Thuram also flirted with the goal, but Inter however did not gear up in terms of rhythm. Hence Inzaghi’s decision to put Zielinski, Dumfries and Taremi on the field at the same time: replaced, among others, also an extremely disappointing Lautaro. Also due to the subsequent substitutions of Correa and Arnautovic, the Nerazzurri became unbalanced in the hunt for the winning goal; on the other side, Monza tried to exploit the weapon of the counterattack. Just from a lazy defensive reading by Inter, Monza resoundingly found the goal of the advantage. At 81′ Dany Mota, on the first real chance for the Brianzoli, grazes Pavard’s header and beats Sommer. The evening seemed bewitched for Inter, but an episode saved Inzaghi’s boys. In the 88th minute Dumfries, from a few steps, deflects Carlos Augusto’s cross into the net. In the recovery, Pessina, on a free kick, brushed the new lead for the Biancorossi. Not a match to be framed for the Nerazzurri, now awaiting their Champions League commitment. Still dry of victories, instead, Monza, author however of a positive performance.- Image Photo -(ITALPRESS).
