Empoli stops Juventus, ends 0-0 at Castellani

EMPOLI (ITALPRESS) – Second consecutive draw for Thiago Motta’s Juventus: at Castellani against Empoli it ends 0-0, the same result accrued before the break in the home match against Roma. Bianconeri momentarily lead the standings on 8 points, waiting for Inter and Torino. Six points for the Tuscans, in their third league draw and so far unbeaten: good start by D’Aversa’s men (now disqualified) who, after winning at the Olimpico, managed to snatch a point from the Bianconeri. Empoli confirmed the solidity shown in the first three games, putting in difficulty a Juventus that was proactive in the first moments, less brilliant as the minutes passed, especially in the building phase. Gyasi had the first real chance, but his cut in at the second post was intercepted by Kalulu’s excellent reading. The Bianconeri struggled to invent play, thanks also to the hosts able to clog all spaces: the first danger came from a corner kick, with Koopmeiners’ cross for Gatti, Vasquez, however, managed to deflect the central player’s header into a corner. The Tuscans, on the other hand, engaged Perin with a broadside by Maleh from the distance: the Bianconeri number 1, chosen in place of Di Gregorio, managed to block the ball without further difficulty. In the second half, the guests immediately pressed on the accelerator, Vasquez’s own foot save on Vlahovic’s diagonal (also worth highlighting was a save on Koopmeiners’ outside touch) being decisive. To shake things up Thiago Motta made four changes midway through the second half, but the Tuscans contained well a team struggling especially in the last sixteen meters. Maleh in the final unloaded a venomous left-footer that came out by a matter of centimeters, while Gyasi gobbled up the 1-0 ball in mid-recovery thanks to Gatti’s slip. The final assaults by Fagioli and his teammates were useless. In the next round Empoli will face Cagliari while Juventus will welcome Napoli: first, however, there will be the Champions League match against Psv. – Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
