LONDON (UNITED KINGDOM) (ITALPRESS) – The design of the Italian Pavilion at Osaka Expo 2025, signed by architect Mario Cucinella, has landed in London. Presenting it at the Italian Cultural Institute in the British capital, directed by Francesco Bongarrà, was Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo2025 with archistar Mario Cucinella, who developed it. On stage with them for the occasion Maria Porro, president of the Milan Furniture Fair, and design expert, Prya Khanchandani, engaged to talk about the vision of Italian design.
It was Vattani’s turn, in a room packed with British and Italian architects and design experts, to emphasize the global importance of the EXPO in Osaka, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, “the first truly global event since the end of the pandemic, in which Italy will have a fundamental position, both because of the prestige of this appointment and because of its importance in the strategic relationship between our country and Japan. A showcase of the best of Italy that will last 6 months.”
“The Italian Pavilion,” Cucinella stresses, “is highly sustainable: it is completely made of wood, disassembled piece by piece and every piece reusable, elsewhere in the world.
“Sustainability is now a fundamental element even at the Salone del Mobile,” added Maria Porro, “and it is more so every year. Every event within the Salone must be certified in terms of sustainability, just to give an example by now the use of cardboard has been completely abolished. On the other hand,” Porro continued, “in my company we tend to limit the use of electricity as much as possible: for example, we encourage staff to start work early in the morning finishing in the early afternoon.
“It is an honor to welcome to London Mario Cucinella, a very important internationally renowned architect, and Maria Porro, who represents, the greatest design reality in the world. And I am proud that in this our Institute London ‘knows’ the Italian Pavilion in Osaka,” Bongarrà concludes.
