ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The institute of legal medicine has identified the body of the hostage delivered last night by Hamas to the Red Cross and subsequently arrived in Israel. It belongs to Tal Haimi.
“The Israeli government shares the deep pain of the Haimi family and all the families of the deceased hostages. The Israeli government and the entire Israeli apparatus of response to the capture of hostages remain determined, engaged and tirelessly working to return all the deceased hostages for a worthy burial in their homeland. His memory is blessed,” he reads in the statement of the office of the Prime Minister.
On Monday evening, Hamas delivered the body of the hostage Tal Haimi to Israel. Haimi, 41, head of the Kibbutz civil protection team Nir Yitzhak, was killed while defending his community on 7 October 2023 and his body was abducted and brought into the Gaza Strip. Hamas delivered the coffin in the evening, claiming he’s located the body the day before.
The Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, later declared that they had retained the body. With Haimi’s return, the bodies of 15 hostages remain in Gaza.
HAMAS “VOGLIAMO RESTITUIRLI, MA CI SONO OSTACOLI”
The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas is willing to find and deliver the 15 bodies of the hostages held in the Strip, if he is given more time and heavy equipment. In an interview with Egyptian TV Al-Qahera, the leader of Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, said: “We are ready to recover and deliver all hostage bodies according to the agreement. We do not want to hold anyone with us: let them return to their relatives, and even our martyrs will return and be buried with dignity.” Al-Hayya, escaped from the Israeli attack in Doha, adds that it is difficult to reach the bodies because some are underground and under the buildings, and observes that this takes time and equipment. Hamas has long declared that he would need additional machinery to locate the remaining dead hostages. Israel accused Hamas of lying, claiming he could return almost all bodies in a short time. There are also concerns that the terrorist group can reuse heavy equipment for other purposes.
NEW YORK TIMES “GLI USA TEMONO CHE NETANYAHU POSSA FAR DERAGLIARE IL CESSATE IL FUOCO”
Washington officials would fear that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will end the ceasefire in Gaza and return to war against the armed group Hamas. This is reported by the New York Times, citing several anonymous U.S. officials, who believe that Netanyahu’s concern for the administration to act actively against the agreement, says the report. In this context the arrival in Israel of American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, awaiting Vice-President J.D. Vance to land in Tel Aviv in the coming hours. After the entry into force of the ceasefire in Gaza on October 10, there were violations with Israel accusing Hamas of not complying with the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement. The terrorist power group in Gaza has not yet handed over the bodies of 15 hostages, claiming that they are difficult to locate them. According to the Washington Post, talks are underway with Turkey to send a team specializing in the recovery of bodies to help locate hostage bodies in Gaza.
