ROME (ITALPRESS) – After being the best team at the 2022 World Championships in Yankton (U.S.), Italy confirms itself as the best national team in the world in the country sector again in 2024. The Azzurri won the medal table at the World Championships in Lac La Biche, Canada, taking an impressive 17 podiums: 8 golds, 5 silvers and 4 bronzes. In second place was the USA (5 golds, 5 silvers and 6 bronzes) and third place went to Sweden (2 golds and 1 silver). In the team events, the women’s trio (Noziglia, Franchini, Di Francesco), the mixed team Olympic bow (Di Francesco, Mandia), and the mixed barebow (Noziglia, Seimandi) won the rainbow title, while in the individual events, after the teams’ six total podiums, another 8 medals came. Completing her perfect World Championships was Roberta Di Francesco, who after the team and mixed team titles took gold in the individual as well with a dominating 57-47 final against Gaby Schloesser of the Netherlands. The Italian, who was arriving in Canada as vice World Under-21 champion, left her opponent no chance thanks to three perfect sets (15-12, 16-11 and 15-9), the opponent taking the last partial 14-11 but it did not serve to change the story of the match. The women’s podium is two-thirds blue thanks to Chiara Rebagliati who, after the individual gold in the 2022 edition played in Yankton (USA), confirms herself at a very high level in this discipline reaching the final for bronze, where she wins 58-57 with German Elisa Tartler. The challenge is beautiful and balanced with a 16-15 on each side in the first two sets, then comes the 14-14 tie and finally the 13-12 in favor of the Italian that decides the match. En plein azzurro also in the other bronze finals. In the compound victory for rookie Roberto Carosati 65-60 against German Henning Luepkemann 65-60 in a comeback. In fact, the Italian went down 18-16 and 16-15 in the first two sets, but in the next two volleys, both ended 17-13, he turned the situation around. Double third place in the barebow with Giuseppe Seimandi beating France’s David Jakcson 45-43 and Livia Fabris getting the better of Australia’s May Hu 41-33. In the men’s match, the Italian tied the first set 11-11, won the next two 12-10 and 10-8, and finally lost the last one 14-12 but without affecting the final result. In the women’s challenge Fabris dominated far and wide taking home the first (12-10), third (11-8) and fourth (8-5) sets and tied the second (10-10). Rainbow title in the Under-21 women’s Olympic bow for Lucia Mosna thanks to a 48-40 success against host Amelia Cagne. The challenge was immediately tinged blue with 13-10 and 12-8 in the first two partials, so all that remained was to get the job done and so did Mosna with 12-13 and 11-9 in the last six arrows.
