Lebanon truce violated, Israel-Hezbollah exchange of accusations

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Exchange of accusations between Israel and Hezbollah over responsibility for the ongoing truce violation in southern Lebanon. Israeli shelling has hit 3 towns and the Shiite party accuses the Israeli army of attacking returnees. The latter claims to have monitored the arrival of the suspects in several areas of southern Lebanon. Lebanese continue to return to their homes a day after the cease-fire agreement went into effect.
The municipality of Khiam in southern Lebanon has asked evacuees not to enter the town until after an official statement allowing them to do so, while the Israeli army has warned residents of 10 southern towns not to return. The Israeli army also announced a curfew, warning residents of southern Lebanon to avoid any movement or relocation south of the Litani River from 1 to 5 pm.
This comes as the Israeli army said it has been monitoring the arrival of suspects in several areas of South Lebanon and described this as a violation of the ceasefire with Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Lebanese Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah accused Israel of attacking those returning to their villages in southern Lebanon.
Security sources said Israeli tank fire hit towns on Lebanon’s southeastern border with Israel, a day after a cease-fire, which prohibits offensive military operations, went into effect. The tank fire hit the towns of Markaba, Al-Wazzani and Kfar Shuba, all of which are located within two kilometers of the blue line demarcating the Lebanon-Israel border. A security source explained that two people were injured in the town of Markaba.
