Mazda CX-80, “premiere” of the new flagship at the Turin Motor Show

TURIN (ITALPRESS) – Mazda unveiled its new European flagship, the CX-80, during the Turin Auto Show, inside the museum dedicated to Turin’s historic automotive industry. This car represents an evolution of the CX-60 model, with which it shares many features, but stands out as the most spacious in the range in Europe, capable of accommodating up to seven passengers. With a base price of 61,235 euros and the start of sales scheduled for the fall, the CX-80 aims to become the Hiroshima-based automaker’s flagship model. Nearly five meters long and with a wheelbase of more than three, the car provides ample space for passengers, with three rows of seats, the third of which folds down. The CX-80’s design follows Mazda’s signature “Kodo design” principles, focusing on minimalist and functional elegance. The interior is enhanced by cutting-edge technologies, such as the new Alexa voice control system and an innovative hybrid navigation system that integrates the benefits of offline and online services.Technically, the CX-80 features double wishbone front suspension and multilink rear suspension, as well as all-wheel drive. At launch, it will be available in two powertrain versions: the e-Skyactiv PHEV, a plug-in hybrid with a four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor, delivering a combined power output of 327 hp; and the e-Skyactiv D, a six-cylinder inline turbo diesel with 48V Boost mild hybrid technology, capable of 249 hp. “We will launch it at dealerships in October, it is born as a car 25 centimeters larger than its smaller sister, every centimeter is designed for passengers to take advantage of the roominess in the 6- or 7-seat configuration. This car contains so many examples of Mazda’s industrial craftsmanship. The color we see today, artisan red, looks almost like a handmade paint and instead is standard,” explained Roberto Pietrantonio, Managing Director of Mazda Italy. Comfortable and versatile, the new Mazda CX-80 – Crafted in Japan, combines an evolved design anchored in Japanese aesthetics with exceptional flexibility of on-board accommodation.
