ROME (ITALPRESS) – Total acclamation for Claudio Ponzani, who was re-elected president of the Italian Surfing, Waterskiing and Wakeboard Federation at the elective assembly held this morning at the Coni Hall of Honor. Ponzani, who led the federation for the past year after its commissioning, in fact obtained 100 percent of the votes. A total success, which “left me stunned, I did not expect it,” explained the re-elected president, “but precisely this will give me the strength to do even more. The results of the last quadrennium listed by Ponzani at the opening of the assembly showed a growing federation, with 212 affiliated clubs (+7% compared to 2023) and, above all, 45,000 members, a remarkable increase considering that in 2015 membership did not reach 13,000: “We are on the right track, in just one year we have done an incredible job. The next quadrennium will hold some nice surprises in store for us,” Ponzani’s comment.About the quadrennium that awaits the federation and that will take it all the way to Los Angeles 2028, the president concluded, “We are achieving incredible results in all disciplines, from world champions to Olympic qualifiers. The goal is to bring some of our other disciplines to Olympic status and qualify athletes.” As for the Federal Council, in affiliate quota Carlo Morelli, Piero Gregorio, Omar Micheli, Valeria Duraccio, Giorgia Conca, Edoardo Geraldini and Manfredi Napoli were elected; in athlete quota Thomas Degasperi and Alice Virag; in technician quota Piero Pierani.
