ROME (ITALPRESS) – There is concern about the situation related to bad weather in Emilia Romagna and Marche. More than 800 rescue operations have been carried out since yesterday by firefighters in the two regions due to overflowing rivers and flooding. Among the municipalities brought to their knees was that of Lugo (Ravenna), where the Senio River overflowed, charging the Emiliano Romagnolo Canal, which could also carry water to the Villa San Martino and Saponara areas. The municipality of Lugo announced this on its Fcebook profile, inviting as a precautionary measure the population in those areas “to go upstairs with water, food, medicines, basic necessities, cell phone and chargers.” “The situation is comparable to the flooding in Emilia Romagna in 2023,” Lugo Mayor Elena Zannoni said on Non Stop News on RTL 102.5. Last night in one hour 100 millimeters of water fell and in the coming hours it will continue to rain,” the mayor concluded.
Meanwhile, the activities of the national fire brigade at work since yesterday in Emilia Romagna, where the red alert continues, to deal with the damage caused by the intense wave of bad weather that is hitting the region. More than 500 rescue operations have been carried out in the last 24 hours. More critical situation in the territory of the province of Ravenna, where two Drago helicopters are also in action to evacuate people stuck in their homes by the rising water level caused by the overflow of the Senio torrent in Cotignola and of the Lamone in Bagnacavallo in the Traversara area. In Casola Valsenio, interventions are underway for several landslides that have obstructed connecting roads. In the province of Forlì Cesena, National Corps water rescuers operated in Via Zignola, Forlì, to evacuate 14 people, including 7 disabled people in a health residence, and about 100 animals threatened by water. Also in Forlì, in the San Benedetto neighborhood, in Via Pelacano and Via Isonzo, teams are operating to assist people in difficulty due to flooding and to rescue stranded motorists.
Also of concern is the situation in the Marche region, where firefighters have completed 300 rescues since yesterday to combat damage generated by bad weather. Teams operated tonight in Ascoli Piceno, in the Ponterotto locality between San Benedetto del Tronto and Acquaviva Picena, to rescue motorists in distress from water and mud along the SP36 roadway. Flooding rescues also took place in the areas of Cupra Marittima and Grottammare. In Ancona late last night, six families were evacuated in Osimo due to a landslide threatening the town on Montecesa Street. Due to the flooding of the Arzilla torrent, in the province of Pesaro Urbino the road network on SP 144 is interrupted. Boosted in the National Corps’ rescue effort by sending experienced water and river rescue personnel from Lombardy, Tuscany and Campania.
