SALINA (MESSINA) (ITALPRESS) – Tasca d’Almerita announces that it has reached an agreement to sell the “Capofaro” resort, the accommodation facility located on the island of Salina in the Aeolian archipelago. This marks the start of a new phase of development for the iconic wine group in Sicily’s wine history. After more than 20 years, Salina’s iconic relais passes to new ownership: vineyards and Aeolian production remain under the company’s management, with new plans for growth. Acquired in 2001, thanks to an intuition the Tasca family had about the potential of Malvasia delle Lipari, “Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia” has established itself as a wine retreat of excellence and the only Aeolian residence to be part of the Relais & Chateaux circuit. At the base of the project, an original combination of wine and high hospitality.During its two decades of activity, reads a note, Tasca d’Almerita has pursued the mission of positioning Salina and the Aeolian Islands as a tourist destination of the highest profile. This goal, the note points out, was motivated by an upstream sustainability choice: the Aeolian archipelago has small size, delicate environmental balances and limited accommodation availability. Keeping tourist flows limited was the only way to protect such a valuable habitat. At the same time, connecting leisure activities to the world of wine has made it possible to enhance and relaunch a historical vocation of the Aeolian Islands, stimulating an important economic and social flywheel for the entire archipelago. “Capofaro has thus become the first 5-star boutique hotel of the Aeolian islands,” adds Alberto Tasca. “We began to study the local vineyard and its peculiarities, recovering and regenerating its historical part. We have also restored, over the years, the fishing village and given new life to one of the most important lighthouses in the Mediterranean. All this will remain as our legacy, for guests who will continue to frequent this unique place. Today we are leaving the accommodation facility ‘Capofaro Locanda & Malvasià ,’ a name chosen to emphasize the spontaneous and authentic style of hospitality, but we continue to cherish the spectacular vineyards overlooking the Aeolian sea that give rise to Capofaro, Didyme, and Vigna di Paola the sweet and dry versions of Malvasia. “The sale of the accommodation facility is part of a larger framework of reorganization and specialization of the group. Among the changes announced is an expansion of the team, with the involvement of new key figures. The commercial direction, the note points out, is entrusted to Leonardo Vallone, who, thanks to solid managerial experience, will work to consolidate and increase the brand’s presence in different markets, addressing the phenomena of change and diversification of consumption that cross the entire international scenario. “It is an honor for me to be able to work with the Tasca family,” says Leonardo Vallone, “a company of unquestionable value, on the fascinating variety of soils and areas cultivated in the 5 Estates, combined with the extraordinary attention to good practices in the vineyard and a history that is intertwined with the most authoritative one of national viticulture.Alessia Maranzano, industry journalist and AIS and WSET 2 sommelier, joins the marketing team, who will coordinate new digital marketing and integrated communication projects. In the winery, the cross-disciplinary role of Lorenza Scianna, oenologist and winemaker, who will accompany the oenological direction of the estates, is consolidated. Her work is characterized by a specific anthropological sensitivity to the relationship between man and vine, which will help strengthen Tasca d’Almerita’s commitment to protecting Sicily’s intangible heritages. On Etna, agronomist Michele Brusaferri is coordinating the research and study project of the territory, identifying the new expressions of the contrade, with the support of Vittoria Cerniglia, AIS Sommelier expert in hospitality management, who is following and developing the wine tourism experiences at Pianodario and Rampante. In Mozia where the fascination of archaeology accompanies a wine rich in history in an ecosystem where the vine has long played a relevant role, and in Sallier de La Tour, an area rich in history and agricultural wisdom, just a few kilometers from Palermo, a surprising corner of Sicily that originates from the very nearby Monreale, an Arab-Norman jewel and UNESCO heritage site. Thus continues the story of Tasca and an unprecedented, authentic Sicily, an approach based on respect for the land, local resources and community, which finds deep roots in Tasca d’Almerita’s vision as Sicily’s first B Corp certified winery. A recognition that attests to the Tasca family’s ongoing commitment to enhancing biodiversity, protecting the landscape and strengthening ties with local communities, promoting sustainable development that respects the environment and people.- photo press office Conte Tasca d’Almerita -(ITALPRESS).
