ROME (ITALPRESS) – In November 2024, retail sales are estimated to show a negative cyclical change in both value (-0.4 percent) and volume (-0.6 percent). Both sales of food goods (-0.1 percent in value and -0.6 percent in volume, respectively) and non-food goods (-0.7 percent in value and volume) are down. This is noted by Istat.In the September-November quarter of 2024, in cyclical terms, retail sales increased by 0.6 percent in value and 0.3 percent in volume. Similar trends were recorded for both food sales (+1.3 percent in value and +0.1 percent in volume) and non-food sales (+0.4 percent in value and +0.3 percent in volume).On a trend basis, in November 2024, retail sales increased by 1.1 percent in value and decreased by 0.2 percent in volume. Sales of food goods are up 2.8 percent in value and down 0.2 percent in volume, while sales of non-food goods experience a negative change in both value and volume (-0.1 percent in value and -0.2 percent in volume).As for non-food goods, there are heterogeneous trend changes among product groups. The largest increase is in Perfumery products, personal care (+4.1 percent), while IT, telecommunication, and telephone equipment (-2.8 percent) and Footwear, leather goods, and travel goods (-2.7 percent) show the largest decline.Compared with November 2023, the value of retail sales is up for large-scale retail trade (+3.8%), while there are declines for sales of businesses operating on small areas (-0.9%), sales outside stores (-3.9%) and e-commerce (-3.3%).-photo Istat press office-(ITALPRESS).
