ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I hope that having reached a just peace in Ukraine Russia understands that it cannot go any further because then Ukraine, if it joins the European Union will be protected, so a European and American strategy must be found together to ensure the security of the West.” This was said by Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, host of “Mattino Cinque News,” Channel 5. “I don’t think it is the best solution to send NATO military, European Union military to guarantee a neutral security strip between Russia and Ukraine,” he added. “The best thing would be to have a United Nations action, which decide through the Security Council, so with the commitment also of China and Russia, to have a buffer zone where there could be also Italian military but part of a United Nations mission, as it is in Lebanon. Minister Tajani stressed that “on the agenda is not the possibility of sending Italian troops in a NATO and EU mission, the UN is something else, with the involvement of other countries that are neutral to this matter.”
