Unicredit-Consorzio Parmigiano Reggiano agreement, support for PDO companies

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – UniCredit and Consorzio del Parmigiano Reggiano have signed a new agreement to work alongside local companies, supporting them in the implementation of investments and in their growth path, with the aim of strengthening their development potential, supporting their liquidity and responding to the needs determined by the market context. Thanks to this agreement, the Bank will, among other things, make specific solutions available to the companies belonging to the Consortium, covering credit needs across the entire supply chain, reserving priority in the evaluation of instances and targeted support, in terms of credit and advice, through the support of a team of specialists and thanks to the Group’s network synergies. The Consortium will also, at the request of members, deliver an asseveration guaranteeing the presence of the cheeses, owned and free from constraints, in seasoning in the warehouses of the dairies and/or third parties. This asseveration from the Consortium can be presented together with any request for financing by the customer. “We are proud of the new important agreement reached with UniCredit,” says Nicola Bertinelli, president of the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium. “For some time now, the Consortium has been setting up discussion tables with the main Italian credit institutions to meet the needs of Parmigiano Reggiano producers and give them concrete answers. In years characterized by the unknowns related to macroeconomic uncertainties caused by ongoing conflicts, such as high energy prices, rising raw material costs and increasing inflation, this is an excellent development opportunity to offer our companies new opportunities to access credit, guarantee them liquidity in the months when our PDO matures on the steps, make them more solid and promote their growth and development.””The renewed synergy with the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium confirms our Group’s commitment to supporting a supply chain of excellence in the Italian agrifood sector. This agreement, in fact, offers a privileged channel of communication and operational with the bank,” comments Andrea Burchi, UniCredit North Central Regional Manager. “We make our experience, our specialists and targeted solutions available to the afferent companies, capable of concretely accompanying the growth of local companies with a view to sustainability and innovation. All this is in line with our business mission and our main objective: to ensure functional levers for the development of the economy and the welfare of the entire territory.”
