Urso “7.2 billion for space economy, we want to be leaders”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “Aerospace is one of the sectors of the future for Made in Italy. Between now and 2026, we have put in place 7.2 billion, between projects of the European space agency and the Italian space agency, national funds and NRP funds. A significant mass of resources to make our country a leader in the space economy.” This was said by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, on the sidelines of the opening of the work of the States General of the Space Economy at Palazzo Lombardia.
“In a few hours the process begins in Parliament of the framework law on the space economy, the first national law on space that anticipates what Europe wants to do and that regulates the activities of private individuals and not only of states on space,” he added. “A law that Italy needed and that today is absolutely necessary because more and more private individuals are going into space: it needed to be regulated.
The space economy “is one of the fundamental assets of the Mattei Plan. I myself, as the delegated authority for space, have been to African countries several times to reach bilateral understandings through our Italian space agency with those countries that are beginning to look into space,” Urso stressed. “On Monday I will be in Kenya to give a new mission to our space base in Malindi, which just over 60 years ago marked Italy’s entry into space.
“We can reaffirm this leadership in a significant way thanks also to the activities that under Giorgia Meloni’s leadership we have carried out on space: all-round leaders in the new economy that is developing,” he concluded.
