ROME (ITALPRESS) – September, for many, is the month of returns and restarts, we start again with work, school, the gym,… and reports are being made on what were the vacations of the approximately 30 million Italians (according to Enit estimates) who took a break this summer season. In this particular time of economic instability, more than 3 out of 4 Italians (77.6 percent) who said they spent time on vacation experienced increases over last year, albeit, in some cases, less than expected. The largest increases reported by vacationers were mainly in spending related to dining, followed by spending on lodging where they could spend this break and spending related to beach establishments. Overall, generalized price increases affected about two-thirds of those who went on vacation, forcing them to have to make sacrifices to make ends meet. Finally, the economic factor also affected the choice of whether or not to indulge in a vacation: more than half of those who stayed home, 55.3 percent, in fact, did so solely because of financial issues.
