20% of Italians have no children and do not intend to do so, twice as much as France

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Il Sole 24 Today he publishes a detailed analysis, conducted by Noto Surveys on the factors that affect the decrease of births as well as in Italy also in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Spain. For our country this negative trend has different characteristics than in other nations, it seems to have become a cultural factor with our young people who appear increasingly disillusioned and less motivated to make children, even 20% do not have it and do not intend to do it. It is the double of France and Germany (10%) and much higher than the United Kingdom (8%) and Spain (4%) “Young Italians – says Antonio Noto, founder of Noto Sondaggi – perceive that to face such a complex challenge they serve policies that overcome the logic of bonuses and small adjustments, and that finally build a structural platform of services, opportunities and certainties. An answer that you look forward to and restore confidence.” In fact, young Italians are the most concerned for the future with regard to the peers of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain for several factors, first of all they weigh economic insecurity, job instability, housing policies and congedes. All factors analysed with the same lens in the five different national champions.

For Italians – as reported by the survey published on the Sun 24 Hours – the choice of not having children is more due to economic reasons (57%), the lack of support networks in the family (77%) and the poor valorisation of the role of parents in society (72%). The Italian data is clearly different from that of other European countries, where the role of children is strongly valued in society and where the family is not considered the main support network for parents. For Antonio Noto: “Italy must carry out a challenge that cannot be entrusted to the sum of micro actions, but it serves an organic and continuous project.”.
