ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The experimentation of the extraordinary evening openings promoted in August by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, with the participation of the Municipality of Milan, which interested the Pantheon and the Colosseum in Rome and the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, has ended with a great participation of public. At the Colosseum and the Pantheon, only during the evening openings, more than 56 thousand visitors were recorded in one month. At Sforzesco Castle, access to the rooms of the Museo di Arte Antica, Pietà Rondanini and the exhibition ‘Passione Disegno’ were over 4 thousand.
“Over 56 thousand people have chosen to visit the great monuments in the evenings – says the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli – is an important figure, which shows how strong the desire to live our cultural heritage is. The success of this experimentation indicates a way: to expand the accessibility of places of culture means to bring them closer and closer to citizens. In this perspective, collaborations between institutions are a forge of great opportunities for cultural heritage, because they allow different administrations to share expertise, resources and organizational skills and offer new opportunities for knowledge and participation. The numbers of these extraordinary openings show this.”.
“The experiment of the evening openings of monuments and museums, initiated together with the Minister of Jul Culture, has given excellent results – says the Minister of Tourism, Gianmarco Mazzi – we are studying it in every detail with the intention to propose it again in the summer of the coming year and maybe, in winter, in the next Christmas period.”.
The numbers confirming the strong interest of the public for some of the most representative places of the Italian cultural heritage reward an experimentation designed to broaden the opportunities for visiting tourists and services, promote a better distribution of flows, allow access even in the evening hours of the day and make even more evocative and unique the experiences of Italian and foreign visitors. The trial, launched on 1 August, provided for the entire month the extension of the visiting hours of the three monuments: evening openings for the Pantheon and the Colosseum and extension of the access time to the Sforzesco Castle. The initiative was born from the collaboration between Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism and Municipality of Milan.
