MILANO (ITALPRESS) – Lane, American subsidiary of the Webuild Group, in joint venture with Superior Construction, has signed contracts for 643 million dollars (547 million euros) total for the realization of the Westshore Interchange project, the largest infrastructure initiative of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the area of Tampa Bay. This is how the works begin, which will involve one of the busiest road corridors in Florida. In 2023, the joint venture – participated by Lane (at 50%) and Superior Construction (50%) – had already signed a contract of 10 million dollars for the design alone, which is intended to sign these new contracts. The realization by phases of the project has allowed a close collaboration with FDOT, creating a project that maximizes the value of the infrastructure and meets the needs of the community. The project aims to modernize and improve safety and traffic capacity of key arteries in the area such as I-275, SR 60 and Veterans Expressway, in support of the economic and demographic growth of the territory. The planned interventions include new elevated ramps for easier access to Tampa International Airport, larger rides on State Road 60, connections with express lanes and improved infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. The project will also link the areas north and south of the highway through new underpasses and bridges. At the end of the work, 400,000 vehicles per day will benefit from shorter travel times and safer infrastructure. “ The Group thus strengthens a presence already established in the United States, where it is positioned as a strategic partner for the modernization of the country’s infrastructure network. The United States is also one of the most strategic markets for the Group, with Lane operating as the main local operator – explains the Webuild Group in a note -. Among the most important projects in progress, the two Palisades twin tunnels to upgrade the railway connections of New York and, in Florida, the Seminole Expressway/SR 417 and I-275/I-4 Downtown Tampa Interchange (DTI) projects in Tampa and strategic intersections between the I-4 and Sand Lake Road and between the I-4 and SR 535 in Orange County.” In July, the Group was awarded expansion and modernisation on I-85 in North Carolina and modernisation of a I-75 route, one of the main corridors for North Florida roadworthiness.
