Dismantled narcotraffic axis between Italy and Northern Europe

ANCONA (ITALPRESS) – Vast international police operation, coordinated by the Antimafia District Direction (DDA) of Ancona and the Public Ministry of Switzerland. Dismantled a dangerous criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking and illegal capital laundering.

The law enforcement agencies performed 9 precautionary measures between Italy, Switzerland and Denmark. The investigation, conducted by the G.I.C.O. of the Guardia di Finanza of Ancona and the S.C.I.C.O., with the support of Eurojust and the National Antimafia Procura, has unveiled a complex network with operational leadership in the Canton Ticino and logistic bases in the provinces of Macerata and Fermo.
According to the pollutants, the Sodalitius managed an impressive cocaine, marijuana and hashish traffic. The drug was found in Spain and Northern Europe, then being transported to Italy via couriers. The main “hub” was the Marche region, where the substance was sold wholesale, but connections for the spaccio also emerged in other Italian regions.

In addition to the arrests made in several cities (Civitanova Marche, Fermo, Porto San Giorgio, Milan, Treviso and Bari), the financiers performed numerous searches and seizures. The organization used commercial cover activities to reuse the proceeds of drug trafficking, trying to clean up dirty money through legal economic circuits.

International cooperation. The operation was made possible thanks to a constant exchange of information between the Swiss Federal Police and the special departments of the Guardia di Finanza, allowing to map the criminal structure despite its transnational dislocation.
