Last stop for the Opes project, this is how sport can grow

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Ten proposals to make sport more accessible and responsive to the needs of new generations. They presented the 100 participants – girls and boys of secondary schools of second grade and graduates of Roman universities – of the project “The Sport in Constitution: Dialogues for an Active Citizenship” who lived his last appointment at the Salone d’Onore del Coni. “Today is the end of a journey, a stop and the beginning of a new journey – Juri Morico, National President of OPES – a journey made together with boys, local authorities, the Coni, the Cip and Sport and Health. We have joined because sport in the Constitution is a starting point to produce a culture of sport that is responding to the needs of children, who have addressed concrete proposals to political decision makers.”.

The day was the last act of a civic workshop that, taking advantage of the methodology of structured dialogue and the last paragraph of Article 33 of the Constitution (“The Republic recognizes the educational, social and promotion value of the psychophysical well-being of sports activity in all its forms”), contributed to make tomorrow’s adults aware, responsible, prone to cyberism and also architects of a new sport dimension. Speaking during the morning also the president of the Coni Luciano Buonfiglio: “I thank OPES for the beautiful day. Lots of boys have proposed very interesting ideas. The Coni is making a link between the different projects involving young people: from school, to sports start-up to sports and sports culture.”.

The 10 proposals are the final expression of an active participation path, started on 29 September in the Olympic Stadium in Rome and continued with the appointments of 21 October and 10 November at the University of Tor Vergata. Gender equality in sport, investing in mental health and school gyms, reform and extension of sports vouchers and protecting well-being and leadership are some of the ideas proposed by the boys. Ideas that will be evaluated and analyzed by local authorities and institutions. “Starting to make ten projects like those presented today I think is a very interesting way of acting – says Diego Nepi, CEO of Sport and Health –. Today is a start of a series of important documents that will be put on the ground and will also be the task of Sport and Health and other institutions to create replicable projects throughout the country”. The original OPES initiative will leave a tangible mark. On the one hand, it will have approached more or more joint institutions and new generations. On the other hand, the experiential laboratories of the project will have contributed to the human growth of increasingly aware citizens, responsible and protagonists of the public scene.
