At the University of Benevento a focus on environmental and digital transition

BENEVENTO (ITALPRESS) – The interdisciplinary conference “Transition Digital and Environmental” was held in Benevento, at Palazzo De Simone. The complexity of twin transitions“, promoted by the University of Sannio – DEMM Department, which brought together academics, representatives of institutions and business managers for a comparison of the main nodes related to the dual digital and environmental transition.

The mayor of Benevento, Clemente Mastella, intervened to work, which recalled the strategic value of the digital and environmental transitions for the future of the Mezzogiorno and the role of universities as a pretext for knowledge, research and training in support of the territories. “Digital, environment and energy are a great development opportunity for the South,” said Mastella. “The Universities can accompany the territories towards new models of growth, work and quality of life, helping to strengthen their competitiveness.”.

“Digital and environmental transitions pose complex issues requiring solid research, ability to read phenomena and a constant comparison between different knowledge,” said the director of the University of Sannio, Maria Moreno. “The University has the task of promoting interdisciplinary approaches, able to integrate economic, legal, technological and social skills, to offer tools of analysis and solutions useful to accompany the processes of change that cross the territories and society”.

During the first day, during the session dedicated to work, business and finance, Umberto d’Oriano, Marketing Director of Optima Italia, spoke with a contribution dedicated to the integration of energy, telecommunications and digital services as a tool for simplifying processes and greater efficiency for businesses, families and public administration.

“The double transition first requires the ability to govern complexity,” said d’Oriano. “The integration of services can help make systems more efficient, reducing waste and indirect costs and promoting more aware use of resources.”.

The debate has faced the challenges posed by the convergence between technological innovation and environmental sustainability, highlighting the need for industrial models and governance able to accompany the changes in place, with particular attention to economic sustainability and the rational use of resources. The conference is divided into several sessions dedicated to law, work, finance, territories, culture and innovation, confirming the role of the academic world as a space for dialogue between institutions, enterprises and local communities on development and sustainability issues.
