ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The rapid survey of industrial production at large industrial enterprises associated with Confindustria shows, in January, an improvement of expectations compared to the previous month. More than half of the enterprises expects an unchanged production (54.5%), while more than one third expects an increase (35.0%); the share of those who report a moderate or significant decrease (10.5%). Looking at the quarterly dynamics, in the 4th quarter of 2025 almost a quarter of the respondents (24.2%) expected a contraction of the activity, in the face of a quota pairs to 45.5% that previewed a stable production and of 30.3% that anticipated an increase. With the survey of January, which opens the current quarter, an improvement of the economic framework is observed, in particular due to the reduction of the share of companies expected to contract production.
The demand and order balance remains the main strength to support production. In January the balance improves at 3.8%, after 2.0% of December. The expectations of enterprises on the availability of labour in the next few remain permanently in the negative territory: the balance in January is equal to -1.2%, after -1.4% of the previous survey. The balance of production costs in the current month confirms the net deterioration in December (-4.6% from -5.0%). The reviews about the financial conditions worsen, while remaining weakly positive, compared to the previous month (+0.1% from +2.1%). With regard to the reviews on the availability of materials, the balance of the answers is consolidated in the current month, rising to +1.5% from +0.9%. Industrial judgement on plant availability worsens in the current month survey (+0.4% after +1.4% December).
