ROMA (ITALPRESS) – With Decree no. 22 of 27 January 2026 of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (Direction General Protection of Biodiversity and the Sea) the appointment of Italo Cucci as Extraordinary Commissioner of the National Park Board of Pantelleria has been confirmed for another six months and, in any case, no later than the appointment of the organs of the Park Authority, of the reserved functions Confirmation and extension were arranged by Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of Environment and Energy Security. The confirmation of the assignment guarantees the administrative and management continuity of the body, allowing you to continue without interruption activities and projects already started. At a delicate time for the planning and implementation of interventions, stability in governance is a key element in ensuring effectiveness and consistency to the Park’s actions. In the course of his term, Commissioner Cucci has carried out numerous initiatives aimed at the protection and conservation of the island’s territory, its valorisation and safety, with an eye to the conservation of biodiversity, the conservation of habitats, the promotion of sustainable practices in agriculture. Priority was given to monitoring and environmental awareness aimed at the local community, as well as strengthening the collaboration between research and institutions. With this extension the Commissioner and the whole team of the Ente will be able to continue the path undertaken by ensuring continuity to the ongoing projects and laying the foundations for new strategic actions to protect one of the most precious naturalistic contexts of the Mediterranean. “The work continues” commented Italo Cucci.
