Episodes of violence against law enforcement, from Meloni an appeal to opposition for institutional collaboration

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, presided this morning at Palazzo Chigi a meeting to take stock of recent serious incidents of violence against law enforcement and measures to be taken to guarantee the security of citizens and public order. At the summit took part the vice-presidents of the Council Antonio Tajani (in connection from Palermo) and Matteo Salvini, the ministers Matteo Piantedosi (Interno), Guido Crosetto (Difesa) and Carlo Nordio (Giustizia), the undersecretaries Alfredo Mantovano and Giovanbattista Fazzolari, as well as the head of the Police Vittorio Pisani, the general commander of the Carabinieri General Salvatore Luongo and the commander Andrea Guardia Genna.

Meloni and the Government – read in a note of Palazzo Chigi – reaffirm full support for the forces of order and, in this delicate phase – even in the light of the statements of the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein – intend to appeal to the opposition to a close institutional collaboration. For this reason, the majority group leaders have been sent to propose to those of opposition the presentation of a unitary resolution on security, which could be voted this week on the occasion of the reports of Minister Matteo Piantedosi.
