Trump withdraws from Minnesota about 700 federal immigration agents after protests

WASHINGTON (USA) (ITALPRESS) – President Donald Trump’s administration has decided to reduce the number of federal immigration agents in Minnesota after weeks of tensions and protests in the Twin Cities. Tom Homan of the Ice announced that about 700 federal agents will be withdrawn from the state, thus reducing the massive presence begun with immigration control operations in the territory. After the reduction, however, some 2,000 agents engaged in enforcement activities in Minnesota would remain, a number much higher than that normally present before the operation was activated.

The reduction of agents is an attempt by the administration to coat tensions without abandoning its entire line on the application of the immigration law. Tensions and disputes remain at the centre of political and legal debate in the United States, with state and local authorities continuing to demand more stringent clarifications and controls on federal actions in their territory.
