MONTREAL (CANADA) (ITALPRESS) – It is ten dead, including the bomber, and at least 27 injured – of which two serious – the balance of a shooting occurred in Tumbler Ridge, a mountain town of 2,300 inhabitants of British Columbia, in western Canada, over 1,000 kilometers north of Vancouver. Seven people were killed by gunshots in a high school and two others were found dead in a nearby house: to report the local police, according to which the suspect was found dead, would commit suicide.
The Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, said “devastated” by the “terrible shooting”, and announced the postponement of his trip to Europe, scheduled from 11 to 15 February, to participate, among other things, at the Conference on Security in Munich, Germany, which will bring together about 60 heads of state and government. “I join the Canadians in expressing my condolences to those whose lives have been changed forever today and in paying tribute to the courage and altruism of the first rescuers who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens,” Carney wrote on X.
The mayor of Tumbler Ridge, Darryl Krakowka, said that the whole community is mourning. “I’m devastated – he said –. It’s terrible. I’ve lived here for 18 years. This community is a great family. I probably know each of the victims.”.
