ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “In spite of the outing we have undoubtedly grown. The big gap? More than mental, we have to make a technical step, there is still a difference, but it has become thin. Tomorrow we will have another chance, against Naples we will have another answer to these questions.” These are the words with which the coach of Rome, Gian Piero Gasperini, presented at the press conference the big championship match tomorrow evening against Naples at ‘Maradonà. Different absences between the Giallorossi, to which are added doubts about Soulè and Dybala: “We see today – says Gasperini – For Matias it was a little more difficult week than the others, Paulo trained continuously even if not 100%. It is an emergency that is not just about us, but it bothers us because we are convinced that we are competitive when we are all, but these accidents are slowing us down.” Even Naples “has not had a lucky season on the plane of accidents, has lost strong and important players – admits Gasperini – but it is a great team that has won two shields in the last three years, then each makes its assessments”.
On the subject of accidents and too many games played, often rideed also by Antonio Conte, Gasperini glissa: “I don’t argue, I respect everyone’s opinions. Then there is the risk of injury, but I would always prefer to make cups and Champions even more.” Just on the fourth-place race, in addition to tomorrow’s race, Roma will also face Juventus in a few weeks: “They are undoubtedly important because they are direct confrontation, but they are not decisive. If we lose these two games but we win the others nothing changes.” Finally, after admitting that the few goals from inactive ball situations represent “a limit, in this ranking we are among the last and instead those goals are as good as the others, we have to do better”, Gasperini dwells on some of the newcomers: “Malen has had a very strong impact, both in the team and as results. He’s a player who gives us a lot and that, as a team, we will have to support as much as possible. That is why it is important that others are also in condition.
