Parolin “The Vatican will not participate in the Board of Peace. Ukraine? There is a lot of pessimism” / Video

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The Vatican will not participate in the Board of Peace for its particular nature that is not that of other States. We learned that Italy will participate as an observer. There are points that leave a bit puzzled, there are some critical points that would need to find explanations. The important thing is that you are trying to find answers, for us there are some critical issues that must be resolved.” Thus the Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, at the end of the celebrations of the 97th anniversary of the Lateran Pattis. “One concern is that at the international level it is especially the UN that manages these crisis situations. This is one of the points on which we insisted,” Parolin explains.

“There is a lot of pessimism on Ukraine, I believe both sides. It seems to us that there is no real progress in peace. It is the tragic point that after four years there is still this. It is hoped that these dialogues could produce some progress, but it seems to me that there is not much hope and expectations,” he added.

“The meeting went well, it is always a very important moment for this meeting with the Italian government and the President of the Republic. There was above all a thanks from us for the attention that the Government has given to so many issues that are at heart to the Church, especially of social character, such as measures on the family, the theme of education, disability, prisons. On these issues there are working tables that concern Cei more directly and on which steps have been taken”, he concluded.
