ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Italy, once again, confirms the home of excellence of the Winter Triathlon and of the great international sporting events: also the forthcoming edition of the World Cup of Winter Triathlon and Winter Duathlon will take place in our country. The event is scheduled from Friday 27 February to Sunday 1 March in Padola, in Veneto, just a few kilometers from the venues that hosted the Milan Cortina Olympic Games. After the successful editions of Pragelato and Cogne, the reconfirm of the excellent work done by the Italian Triathlon Federation in the organization of the iridized festival dedicated to Junior, U23, Elite, Para and Age Group. Athletes and athletes from dozens of countries, from Norway to Spain, will be protagonists of the event, confirming its strong international breath: there are 300 members and 500 race attendances in the three days of competition. In Winter Duathlon there will be almost 40 participants in the Elite, Under 23 and Junior categories, while in Winter Triathlon the members of the same categories exceed 50.
Great participation also in the Age Group races: 120 races in the Winter Duathlon and 150 in the Winter Triathlon. To these are added the Paratriathletes, which will compete divided into the respective categories, contributing to make the program even richer and representative. So the President of the Italian Federation Triathlon, Riccardo Giubilei: “We are really proud to host the Winter Triathlon World Championship in Italy for the third consecutive year. The event will be the occasion to show the world, once again, the organizational capacity of the Italian Triathlon Federation and its collaborators, our beautiful mountain resorts that lend themselves well to the multi-disciplinary winter and above all the ability to work in team that made the difference in these years and that has brought Italy Triathlon to permanently occupy the place that deserves in the international sports scene. For the occasion, we will host the best specialists in the world of Winter Triathlon, champions, Age Group enthusiasts, Paratriathletes, technicians, nationals who will find in Italy the ideal place to dedicate to a fantastic discipline”.
Caterina Vacchi, member of the World Triathlon Executive Board, also expressed great satisfaction: “The confirmation of Italy as the seat of the World Championships of Winter Triathlon for the third consecutive year is the result of a political and sporting work carried out continuously. In my role as vice-president Fitri and member of the World Triathlon Executive Board, I personally supported the Italian candidacy, which was welcomed with enthusiasm and unanimously by the World Board: a clear signal of the concrete recognition of work and strategic investment that the Italian Triathlon Federation has been carrying out for years on the Winter Triathlon”.
The words of the President of the Province of Belluno, Roberto Padrin: “The assignment of the World Championships of Winter Triathlon and Winter Duathlon 2026 in Padola is a reason for great pride in the Province of Belluno and throughout Veneto. Once again our territory is chosen as a stage of international sporting events, confirming its natural vocation for winter sports and the quality of infrastructure and hospitality. Padola and Val Comelico will be able to offer a unique scenario and an organization up to date, enhancing our communities, traditions and environmental heritage that makes us unique.”.
The World Championships of Winter Triathlon – with the partnership of Suzuki Italy – will open Friday, February 27 with the competitions of Winter Duathlon. At 9.00 a.m., the women’s test will start for Elite, Under 23 and Junior, while at 11.00 it will be the turn of the male race of the same categories. The day will end at 5 pm with the Opening Ceremony and the traditional parade of nations. Saturday 28 February will be dedicated to the World Championships of Winter Triathlon for the categories Elite, Under 23 and Junior: the female race will leave at 9.00 and the male one at 11.00. In the afternoon space at the Winter Duathlon Age Group and Para competitions. At 13.00 the 60+ men’s race will start, followed at 13.05 by the 60+ female test. At 13.45 the Age Group men’s race will start, at 13.50 the female race and, at 13.55, the competition reserved for Para athletes. Sunday, March 1st, the program will open at 9.00 with the mixed brackets 2×2 of Winter Triathlon, both for the Elite category and for the Junior category. Starting from 12.00 the Age Group and Para races of Winter Triathlon will take place: at 12.00 the male test 60+, at 12.05 the female 60+, at 12.45 the male race Age Group, at 12.50 the female and, finally, at 12.55 the competition Para.
In addition, Fitri has provided an entirely dedicated experience for young people, the World Winter Triathlon Young Fitri Experience: a project designed to bring young people closer to the winter version of the multi-disciplinary. To the competition set for Sunday 1 March, inserted in the program of the world event, will participate 43 athletes of the categories Esordienti, Ragazzi and Youth A (with age between 12 and 15 years) coming from the societies Fitri di Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna but also from the North West Italy and in particular from the Aosta Valley. The boys will have the opportunity to try the same tracks as the Elite World Championship in an exciting and exciting context.
