Trump in the state of the Union: “The US has returned, it is the golden age”

WASHINGTON (USA) (ITALPRESS) – “Our country has returned bigger, stronger and richer than ever.” Donald Trump opened his speech on the state of the Union, the longest ever at the Congress, which lasted almost an hour and 50 minutes, repeatedly reiterated his economic program and talking about “historical turn” and “golden age”, in short claiming successes in his first year at the presidency of the United States. He therefore claimed that he had inherited “a bad economy” from the previous administration, an economy that, however, “ruggishes as never before”.

Trump defined “deluding” and “unlucked” the Supreme Court’s ruling against global duties imposed by him last year. Taxes “will remain in force on the basis of fully approved and tested alternative legal status,” the American President assured. On immigration, Trump praised the progress made by his administration in reducing the illegal one and protecting the southern border of the United States, although he did not mention the repression implemented in Minnesota, which according to the polls was not popular among Americans.

On Iran, Trump said that he “prefers to solve this problem through diplomacy”, but warned Tehran from pursuing a nuclear weapons program. More generally, Trump exalted the US operation that led to the arrest of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela last month. “My foreign policy – he stressed – is based on peace through force.”.
