MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “If they do not improve the conditions of my leg it will be difficult for me to be on the track next year: I am sick, but I do not have the feeling of wanting to stop. I kept it hard for ten months, but to ski yesterday I still had to take anti-inflammatory drugs. At the end of the season, I’ll have to take some time to get my leg to rest. Now the challenge for me is to be still competitive and win races, I think it’s a pretty tough challenge.” These are the words of Federica Brignone in the press conference from Soldeu (in Andorra), where today he did not take part in the second free descent test for tomorrow’s Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup race 2025/2026.
“I was at J Medical in Turin for three days and there we evaluated my physical conditions. We evaluated whether or not to continue and decided to come to Soldeu, which is one of my favorite stages of the World Cup. At the moment I could not even work by stopping myself, because tibia is not yet in place and inflammation remains. If they had told me that coming to Andorra I would have risked my leg I would not have come here, but the damage I have is something with which I will have to live – he continued – I am doing a little hard work, I hoped to be a little better. I have a lot of pain and I struggle to support my leg. I’ll assess my condition day by day. It must not be torture, it must be a healthy and safe thing: in evidence I feel like I’m fast but pain limits me. I just want to enjoy the moment, ski and stay on track, but I’m not planning the next season”, added the blue champion, veteran from the double gold won in Milan-Cortina.
“After the giant of the Milan-Cortina Olympics I tried to isolate myself. It was beautiful but also very emotionally tough: for me it is still difficult to believe what I did. I managed to trust myself and my leg: doing it at the Olympics was a real madness. I had no references and it was special to have pulled everything out at the right time,” he concluded.
