ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The role of the government in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena “is over”. President Giorgia Meloni said this in an interview with Bloomberg. For Meloni it was “one of those complex dossiers we have inherited and managed successfully”, and the bank is now “a solid institution”. The premier also recalled that the residual share of 4.9% “clearly does not give us the opportunity to exert a significant influence on governance” and that the government, in fact, “will not participate in the appointment of new administrative and supervisory bodies”.
