LONDRA (UKREGNO) (ITALPRESS) – The UK government has withdrawn its staff from Iran. “Because of the current security situation, we have adopted the precautionary measure of temporarily withdrawing UK staff from Iran,” we read on the website of the UK government dedicated to overseas travel.
The United States also asked its staff at the embassy in Jerusalem to leave Israel because of security risks. According to the Sky News broadcaster, the embassy reported that the U.S. government could impose additional restrictions on its staff in Israel and advised its citizens to consider leaving until commercial flights are available.
At least nine American tankers arrived at the Israeli airport Ben Gurion during the night, as part of the massive strengthening of US military forces in the Middle East. It’s what the films released by analysts show that they monitor open source flight tracking data. This week, several American tankers and cargo planes were spotted at Ben Gurion Airport, and 11 F-22 stealth fighters, along with its logistics support aircraft and flight personnel, landed at the Ovdà Airbase in southern Israel. At the moment, they write the Israeli media, at least 14 American tankers are deployed at Ben Gurion airport. It is likely that tankers can provide support for U.S. fighters on board USS carrier Gerald R. Ford, who is heading to the northern coast of Israel, in case the US President Donald Trump ordered a military attack against Iran.
RUBIO IN ISRAELE A INIZIO PROSSIMA SETTIMANA
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Israel next week, in a context of increasing regional tensions and speculation on a potential US military action against Iran. Rubio is expected to visit Israel from 2 to 3 March, said State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott. “The Secretary will discuss a number of regional priorities, including Iran, Lebanon and ongoing efforts to implement the Peace Plan in 20 Points of President Trump for Gaza,” said Pigott. The visit arrives while the focus is on President Donald Trump and his possible authorization of a new round of attacks against Iran. Trump has repeatedly threatened military action after the bloody Iranian repression of anti-regime protests at national level earlier this year. Since the last round of negotiations yesterday in Geneva between the delegations of Iran and the United States have conflicting positions, but a new meeting in Vienna is scheduled next week.
Meanwhile, today American vice president J.D. Vance should receive the Foreign Minister of Oman, Badr al-Busaidi, who is mediating indirect talks between the US and Iran. Washington is pressing on Tehran to dismantle its nuclear program, limit the development of ballistic missiles and cease support for regional proxy groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah. Iran rejected the broadest demands, insisting that discussions focus exclusively on its nuclear programme.
