Odermatt triumphs in the free descent of Garmisch, Franzoni closes fourth

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Marco Odermatt triumphs in the free descent of Garmisch Partenkirchen, valid for the men’s Alpine Ski World Cup 2025/2026. The Swiss stops the chronometer in 1’47′′57, preceding the compatriots Alexis Monney (second, at 0′′04) and Stefan Rogentin (third, at 0′′′98).

At the foot of the podium is Giovanni Franzoni, the best of the Italians, fourth with the same time as the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr (at 1′′20); while the other Swiss Franjo Von Allmen (at 1′′′′47), who has returned from the Olympic gold in this specialty.

Among the top ten also Florian Schieder, eighth at 1′′54, and Dominik Paris, ninth at 1′′55. Later Mattia Casse, 20° to 2′′′38, Christof Innerhofer, 21° to 2′′′50, and Benjamin Alliod, 24° to 2′′72. He did not finish his trial finally William Bosca.

“The ski lost in the time trial conditioned me? If I have to be honest a bit, because I couldn’t try the track at best. In the first test I was wrong the part below and today I had some insecureness. The track has evolved these days. Weariness, then, made us feel today.” So Giovanni Franzoni, at the microphones of Rai Sport, after the fourth place in the descent of Garmisch, valid for the Alpine Ski World Cup. “All in all I am happy, because you see that I am competitive on multiple pistes and different conditions. Years ago, I would have struggled on a track like this. A result in the 5 is always to be taken of good wishes, even in view of the race of tomorrow”, concluded the blue.
