TEHERAN (IRAN) (ITALPRESS) – A series of explosions have hit Tehran in the last hours. The local media reported an explosion in the western part of Tehran, some in the city of Karaj. Iran has announced that it has launched an attack against Kurdish forces headquarters in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has severely accused the United States of hitting without notice a frigate of the Tehran Navy in international waters, defining the action a “follia” Washington “will end bitterly”. In a post on X, Araqchi stated: “The United States has committed an atrocity at sea, 2000 miles from the Iranian coast. The frigate Dena, host of the Indian Navy and with about 130 sailors on board, was hit in international waters without any prior warning.” The Minister added: “Conserve my words: the United States will severely regret the precedent they created by attacking a frigate in international waters.”.
The incident refers to the silution of the frigate IRIS Dena (class Moudge), which took place on Tuesday in the Indian Ocean about 40 nautical miles south of Galle, off the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The ship was sunk after being hit by a torpedo launched by an American attack submarine, as confirmed by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who defined the operation “quiet death” (silent death) and the first sinking of an enemy ship withrpedo by an American submarine from the time of World War II. Sri Lankan authorities have recovered 87 bodies and rescue 32 injured sailors, while dozens of others are still missing. The frigate was returning to Iran after participating in a naval exercise in the Bay of Bengal.

Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, spoke on the phone with his American counterpart, Pentagon leader Pete Hegseth, who expressed his condolences for the death of six U.S. soldiers killed in Iranian attacks. A note from Katz’s office reports that “it stressed that Israel is doing and will continue to do everything possible to help protect the security of US troops in the region.” “Katz asked to thank President of the United States (Donald) Trump for the great support to Israel and stressed that cooperation between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu against Iran is changing regional and global history,” he reads in the statement. Katz also thanked Hegseth “for his great support to Israel and for the extensive assistance in the defense of the citizens of the State of Israel by the Iranian missile threat, and stressed the close and unprecedented cooperation between the armed forces to achieve all the objectives of the war.” According to the Defense Minister’s office, Hegseth “has praised unprecedented cooperation between military and military capabilities” and told Katz: “Continues to the end, we are with you.”.
