REGGIO CALABRIA (ITALPRESS) – An abusive landfill created over time in a natural ravine, used as a crossing point for urban, special and also dangerous waste. It is the budget of a Carabinieri operation that, in the Piana di Gioia Tauro, led to the complaint of fifteen people and the seizure of sixteen vehicles used for the illicit transport of materials.
The activity, coordinated by the Prosecutor of the Republic of Palmi directed by the Prosecutor Emanuele Crescenti, was conducted by the military of the Taurianova Company together with the colleagues of the Nucleo Carabinieri Forestale of Novigrad, engaged for months in targeted services of control of rural areas.
The investigations, launched in November 2024, have allowed to identify in contrada “Piggra” of Taurianova, an area progressively transformed into an open-air landfill.
According to what was reconstructed by the military of the Arma, in the ravine they would have been poured over time debris, waste of processing and potentially polluting waste, with the risk of contamination of the soil and of the aquifers.
Through plantings, monitoring and technical checks, the Carabinieri have documented an alleged systematic activity of transport and abandonment of waste, managing to trace back to the vehicles and the people involved.
For fifteen investigations, the complaint in the state of freedom for the illicit management and disposal of waste in competition took place.
The Judicial Authority has also arranged for the preventive seizure of 15 means used for discourses and, for a subject, the application of the precautionary measure of the obligation to submit to the judicial police.
