BRESCIA (ITALPRESS) – The State Police of Brescia has notified an order of precautionary detention in prison issued against a young man of Egyptian origin as considered to be part of an association with international terrorism. The subject is known as the DIGOS of Brescia and Bergamo, on October 4, 2024, at the end of a complex investigation activity coordinated by the district attorney of the Republic of Brescia, had carried out a measure of precautionary custody in prison for the crime of apology aggravated by the purpose of terrorism committed through a multiplicity of conduct, aimed at propaganda and exalting the activities of Islamic State.
The investigation carried out by the Central Directorate of Prevention Police/UCIGOS and the D.I.G.O.S. of Brescia and Bergamo originated from information received by the A.I.S.E., which allowed investigators to perform targeted insights towards the investigation that demonstrated a marked activism on different social networks and on some young virtual networks, manifesting interest in jihadist themes. In particular, thanks to the investigative evidence, it was found that the young man had constantly engaged in sharing and exaltation on the web of apologetic content concerning the I.S., the Islamic Palestinian Jihad and the practice of martyrdom.
Investigative evidence revealed the will of the investigator to move to action, putting violent conduct against the Kuffar, the “infidels”, as Christians. In particular, the preparatory activity aimed at hitting the Christian faithful attending a church in the centre of Bergamo was reconstructed.
For these facts, the young man was first condemned for apology of crimes with the purpose of terrorism, through a multiplicity of initiatives, aimed at propagating and exalting the activities of the Islamic State and Jihad. At the same time, investigations continued to rebuild the relational circuit of the investigation.
The new investigations of the Brescia DIGOS and the punctual analysis of the forensic copy of the devices seized to the investigated during the operation of Police Judiciary have unveiled how the young man was not a simple “solo light”, operating in synergy with other subjects and coordinating himself in the sharing of common and shared terrorist design. Specifically, the group’s existence on instant messaging systems “The Dangerous of Egypt” and a related terrorist association was established.
Because of the new evidence that emerged during the investigation, the District Attorney of the Republic of Brescia requested the Gip, the issue of a precautionary detention order in prison against the investigation, as it participates in the terrorist association of Islamic matrix called “Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP)” of jihadist form. The investigations allowed us to find, in fact, how the investigation, as part of the group “The Dangerous of Egypt”, planned terrorist attacks, targeting stadiums and places of worship, planning to enlist among the fighters of the Daesh in Mozambique, and provided for its self-training by consulting websites for the creation of explosives and sharing videos regarding the use of kalashnikov and fighting.
