In the fourth quarter of the 2025 tourist flows growing: +1% arrivals and +2.9% attendance

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In the fourth quarter of 2025 tourist flows are growing compared to the same period of 2024: +1% arrivals and +2.9% attendance. It makes Istat known. In comparison with the fourth quarter of 2024, the presences of foreign tourists increase by 5.1%, while those of Italian customers are stable (+0.1%). The majority share of foreign attendance is consolidated, which is 56.5% of total attendance. Compared to 2024, the presences of Italian tourists increased in the months of October and December (respectively +4.4% and +4.3%), while they decreased by 9.2% in November. The presences of foreign tourists have instead increased throughout the trimester, and especially in December (+9.2%).

The increase in attendance in the fourth quarter of 2025 concerns hotels (+1.2%), but above all extra-hotels (+6.6%). In hotels, the decline in household attendance (-1.2%) was more than offset by the increase in foreign attendance (+3.2%). In the extra-alberghieri exercises the presences of both domestic and foreign customers increased (respectively +3.2% and +9%).

In the fourth quarter, the average customer stay in the accommodation is 2.82 nights: substantially stable compared to 2024 and slightly higher for foreigners (3.13 nights) than Italians (2.50 nights). In the fourth quarter of 2025, 14.8% of the annual tourist attendance was concentrated, in line with what was recorded in 2024.

“In the fourth quarter of 2025 tourism in Italy is growing, with an increase of 1% of arrivals, in recovery after the slight decrease of the third trimester (-0.9%), and of 2.9% of attendance, which confirm the positive dynamic already observed in the previous quarter (+2.5%) – comments Istat -. The increase in attendance is driven by the foreign component (+5.1%), which represents 56.5% of total attendance. October is the most touristy period of the quarter: in this month 46% of attendance are concentrated. Italians’ presences grow in October and December but fall sharply in November, while those of foreigners increase in all months of the quarter. Tensile growth is more marked in extra-hotels (+6.6%) than hotels (+1.2%). In 2025 there was a divergent trend of arrivals and attendance: the first in decline of 0.9% and the second in increase of 2.3% compared to 2024. For Italian customers there is a bending of the arrivals pairs to -3,5% in the face of a substantial stability of the presences, while the foreign component is growing in terms of both arrivals (+1.4%) and attendance (+4.3%)”.
