ROMA (ITALPRESS) – They recruited victims on an online dating platform promising sexual performance, but the organized appointments were actually hiding violent aggression and robberies. This is what was reconstructed during an investigation conducted by the State Police and coordinated by the Prosecutor of the Republic of Rome – Department of Diffused and Serious Crime – which led to the issue of an order of precautionary detention in prison by the Capitoline Court of Justice against three young people: a Romanian citizen of 23 years and two Italians of 22. Investigators of the Mobile Team have reconstructed at least nine episodes, between February 2 and March 10, 2023, characterized by a serial modus operandi. The victims, contacted through a messaging platform used for meetings, were agreed to make an appointment with one of the investigators. The latter, considered the “front man” of the group, departed from an operating base in Perugia to reach the people contacted near their homes or in places agreed. During the meeting, while the sexual performance had to be worn out, the accomplices suddenly came out of the trunk of the car attacking the victims with bare hands or, in some cases, with knives or other objects to offend. In several episodes, people affected reported injuries with prognosis over 20 days.
According to the investigation, the victims would also be identified due to their vulnerability to sexual orientation. In some cases, the aggressors would also threaten her to reveal what happened to the family to discourage her from submitting a complaint. Determined for the identification of alleged responsible persons were some details of the vehicle used, the awards made by the victims and the analysis of telephone records. The survey began with a report of an association committed to the protection of the LGBT community that had highlighted the occurrence of an identical criminous scheme.
