How was the Oscar ceremony

The 98th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre, a traditional venue for the Oscar ceremony, in Hollywood. The Academy Awards, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, remain the most prestigious award of the American film industry and one of the most followed events in the world. This year’s edition was largely predictable, with few tippings compared to the predictions of the eve matured during the Golden Globe season, Critics Choice and trade unions.

The film that dominated the evening was A Battle After The Other, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film has got six figurines: best film, best direction, best editing, best non-original script, best casting and best non-star actor for Sean Penn, who as predictable was not present in the room and did not withdraw the award.

The categories dedicated to the main interpreters have confirmed the eve predictions. The Best Actress Award went to the Irish Jessie Buckley for Hamnet – In the name of her son: she is the first Irish actress to win in the category. The Oscar for the best actor was assigned to Michael B. Jordan for the main role in The Sinners. The film also obtained statuettes for the original screenplay, photography and soundtrack. The result was inferior to expectations, as the film was nominated for sixteen awards, absolute nomination record.

In the international categories he prevailed Sentimental Value of Norwegian director Joachim Trier, who was awarded the best international film after obtaining nine overall nominations. The technical awards went largely to Frankenstein, who won for costumes, make-up and hairstyle and scenography. Among the disappointments of the evening was Marty Supreme of Josh Safdie: the film left with nine nominations but did not conquer any statuette. His protagonist, Timothée Chalamet, at the fourth solo show at the Oscars, remains without victories. Finally, the Oscar for the best non-star actress went to American actress Amy Madigan for her interpretation in Weapons.
